in my second year of my degree at the moment. it’s definitely worth doing but if you’re serious about being at the top it aint for the faint hearted…it’s scary in that kind of “cant look away” type way :)

I was cleaning out my room (just a few days after putting “pick up my guitar again” on my list here on 43things) and I found a pack of un-opened strings for my acoustic guitar.
My acoustic guitar has been sitting in the corner of our living room for over a year gathering dust. The more dust it gathered the more ashamed I became that this beautiful instrument never got to strut it’s stuff – so the more I didn’t want to pick it up because I knew that anything I played wouldn’t sound half as good as it did before.
But with my new pack of strings (that I’d bought last time I convinced myself I was going to pick it up and never did) I marched downstairs whipped off the old dulled strings, dusted and cleaned the poor neglected thing, put the new shiny strings on and hammered out a few chords.
It felt great.
Do not put it off; guitars have a soul, and a distinct voice of their own. Let them sing :)
