Here is my completed painting. It’s painted in acrylics, but I prefer oil paints, for their slower drying time. Mind you, I haven’t painted with oils for about ten years, so I might give oil painting a go, and find out for sure.

I’m taking art lessons again, and I started off drawing, now I’m doing a landscape painting in acrylics. It’s of weeping willows besides a river, very loosely based on a photo my husband took in Christchurch, New Zealand. I’m so happy I’m painting again. Now that my children are in school I’m able to spend a bit more time pursuing my creative goals.
I’d love to sell my paintings and drawings, so I’ve got to practice. It’s fun!
I’ve decided to work on this goal again. I started writing a song after a dream I had five years ago. In my dream, I dreamt I’d written a song with a beautiful melody, and I kept playing this song throughout my dream. When I woke up I remembered the dream, but not the melody, but I thought I’d have a go at writing a song anyway.
The song I’ve started isn’t remotely like the song in the dream, this is a poking-fun-at-myself kind of song. It’s a dip-my-toe-in-the-world-at-songwriting song. Not that I really know what I’m doing, but I’m trying to learn something new by giving it a try!
So far, I’ve got two verses and a chorus, and you sing the chorus twice. I want to write the melody, such as it is, down on paper. In a music format, I mean. I can read music, so I’ll try to write it up properly. I’ll see how I go.
