The marathon is this weekend. I am going to do one more short run of 3-5 miles tomorrow. It will be the last run before the big race in Richmond.

How I did it: I would love to build a large wooden sailboat one day but thought I should start with baby steps. I first built a canoe with my brother's help. It floated and didn't even leak too much. So I decided it was time to try a sail boat. Now I have no sailing experience at all. In fact I have only ever even been on a sail boat one time. But I was not to be deterred. How I did it: I decided that I needed to build a boat, the problem was that I know nothing about boats, tools, wood, or even how to sail. I started with plans for a small canoe that I found for free online. My brother and I worked together through much of the process (though he didn't know any more about building a boat than I did). I am less than a week away from running in my first marathon and looking for another challenge. Triathlon seems like the thing to do.
I have decided that I am going to try to compete in a triathlon. That means that I need to get my bike going again. I looked at new and used bike prices online and found them to be much more expensive than I can afford. So I went to the local bike shop and asked about refurbishing and tuning up my old bike. Much more reasonable. Once they get my ride in working condition I can start practicing. Hopefully by riding more I will also learn to take care of the bike maintenance myself.
