Okay so maybe this is not a realistic goal…as I’m not a scientist, doctor, psychologist…or even a teacher. But a few years ago I met someone through work who has an autistic child, and this little girl and I bonded instantly. I would give anything for her to be able to have a happy, pain free and stress free life.

It all started when Jody asked a few of us to pitch in with favors at Harmony’s wedding shower. One of the suggested tasks was preparing a bridal piggy bank to be passed around the shower, for guests to fill with warm thoughts and cold hard cash. The idea intrigued me, so I claimed this as my task. I searched high and low for a piggy bank that met my expectations, to no avail. That’s when I found a blank white one at Michaels, which I painted pink and decorated with a bridal veil and flowers. A new passion was born.
Since then, I’ve made piggy banks in various colors, shapes and sizes for just about all of my friends and relatives. It’s gotten to the point where I either need to build another room on my house to house my fleet of pigs, or start selling them. As I am too busy (or, depending on how you look at it, lazy) to start an actual business of my own, my first step will be craft fairs/word of mouth. I plan on having my first sale at a vendor fair in April, which is actually a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
So…we’ll see where this goal is in a few months.
