The water’s wet, are you listening?
When we’re all wet, our clothes are glistening!
Swimming with our clothes on,
let’s sing happy songs,
Dressy-Dipping in a Water Wonderland!
I’m all dress up, to go a-swimming!
I’m so happy, I feel like singing!
Swimming with my clothes on,
Singing a Happy Song,
Splash-Splish-ity-Splashing in a Watery Wonderland!
Let’s enjoy the wonder of wet clothing ,
The sight of wet clothes clinging to our skin!
Under-water, clothes give such a tingle,
It will make us feel ike waltzing and singing!
Would you have guessed that I am shy?
Look at me, all wet and smiling!
Swimming with nice clothes on,
just a-singing a song,
Splashing in a Watery Wonderland!
Come on in, the water’s fine!
The feel of wet clothes – so inviting!
Swimming with our clothes on,
Singing our happy song,
Splash-Splish-ity-Splashing in a Water Wonderland!

I have been very much in love with wetlook at least since I was a teen.
TV images I have seen during my teen years which inspired me to love wet clothes include:
- A 1965 Dodge commercial with Pamela Austin wearing a black leotard, standing on the deck of what looks like a sailing boat, holding a self-inflatable life raft. She says she is “Out to launch a new idea from Dodge!” She accidentally pulls the “Inflate” handle on the life raft, and as it rapidly inflates, it throws Pamela off-balance as her voice, in her surprise, suddenly raises in pitch, quavering, “Join the Dodge Rebellionnnn!”, and Pamela falls off the boat, out of the bottom of the picture, and a big SPLASH erupts from the bottom of the picture as – off-camera – Pamela hits the water. After several shots of the latest 1965 Dodge racing through the surf at a beach, during the announcer’s voice-over about the car’s features, the car splashes water towards the camera, and suddenly, we see the life raft floating in the water at the side of the sailboat, and Pamela emerges, with her wet hair plastered back, draping the sides of her head and shoulders. Pamela gently places her left hand on the life raft, and points to the camera with her right hand, joyfully calling out “The Dodge Rebellion wants YOU!”
- A 1967 or 68 Maclean’s toothpaste ad with a beautiful young couple wearing lightweight windbreakers over their t-shirts, riding in an inflated raft down river rapids, with occasional close-ups of their white smiles, suggesting the splashy refreshingess of MacLean’s whitening power. The raft tips over, dumping them both into the water, and we cut to the wet face of the brunette girl as she smiles while hugging her wet boyfreind after they emerge all wet form the surface of the water, with her dark wavy wet hair draping the sides of her face.
- A 1965 show of the Lawrence Welk show which was pre-recorded at his resport at Escondido, California. Commonly referred to as “The Escondido Show”, midway through the program, there was a song-and dance routine donew a the side of the swimming pool. Barbara and Bobby were wearing 1910 swimwear, with Bobby in a striped men’s swim costume of the period, and Barbara in a 1910 sailor-style ruffled swim dress costume. They sang and dance the song “Honeybun” from “South Pacific”. At the end of the song, while they raised their hands upon singing the closing line “Putting my money on My – Ho – Ney – Buuunnnn”, they fell backwards into the pool, with Barbara giving out a delightful squeal. The videotape was then reversed to show them “un-falling” back up out of the water, standing again at the side of the pool, only now they were dripping wet, including Barbara’s darlwavy hair. They smile as they take a bow to the camera, with her giving a pretty curtsey, adnthen they again fall back into the pool, with Barbara again giving her happy squeal. I have a black-and-white videotape of this episode with this scene.
- Who could forget the famous gymnasium scene from “It’s a Wonderful Life?” The sight of Donna Reed happily laughing as she and Jimmy Stewart continue to dance in the water, wet from hair to toe with their arms held together and splashing the water as they dance, is still a beautriful sight to behold!
These sights, which I saw during my formative teenage years, showed me what an act of pure happiness it is to fall or jump or dive into the water while fully dressed in nice clothes.
The dressier [and, therefore, more non-swim] the clothing, the better!
I have since swam fully dressed in public myself, singin and dancing the following lyrics to the melody of Walkin In a Winter Wonderland>
The water’s wet, are you listening?
When we’re all wet, our clothes are glistening!
Swimming with our clothes on,
let’s sing happy songs,
Dressy-Dipping in a Water Wonderland!
I’m all dress up, to go a-swimming!
I’m so happy, I feel like singing!
Swimming with my clothes on,
Singing a Happy Song,
Splash-Splish-ity-Splashing in a Watery Wonderland!
Let’s enjoy the romance of wet clothing ,
The sight of wet clothes clining to our skin!
Under-water, clothes give such a tingle,
It will make us feel ike waltzing and singing!
Would you have guessed that I am shy?
Look at me, all wet and smiling!
Swimming with nice clothes on,
just a-singing a sing,
Splashing in a Watery Wonderland!
Come on in, the water’s fine!
The feel of wet clothes – so inviting!
Swimming with our clothes on,
Singing our happy song,
Splash-Splish-ity-Splashing in a Water Wonderland!
When a few women have laughed and smiled at me while I did this, I found myself blushing,
feeling very embarrasssed and totally wonderful all over inside, smiling and blushing.
I have swam fully dressed at area lakes and Gofland Sunsplash and Oceans of Fun in the Kansas City area, and waltzed fully dressed through the Crown Center Square fountain in downtown Kansas City.
What a joy wetlook is!
