I’ve been trying to do this for a while. I was doing pretty well. I’d hardly eaten any synthetic sugars, and was noticing that when I ate some, it tasted boring compared to the more complex flavours of fruits and veg. I craved it less. So, I reckon I wasn’t addicted for a while. But now I’m visiting friends, staying with them for a fortnight. There’s so much sweet stuff about the house, and I feel rude refusing desserts all the time. So now I’m addicted again, and feel cravings. I get relief from the cravings when I eat sugar, even though I’m not that bothered by the taste. Oh well, at least I know I can beat it and it gets easier. I’ll get back there!

I’ve been practicing meditation and yoga on and off for years. This year I decided to commit to my practice. I’ve been following the 8-week mindfulness plan in Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Full Catastrophe Living. It involves yoga postures and meditation on the breath and body. Anyway, with the help of this book, I can definately say that I’ve learned to relax now, and I’d recommend the book to others.
