While I have yet to tackle the socks, I did make a hat! So my overall knitting skills are improving, hurrah! I think I have some double-pointed needles lying around, and I know I have vacation soon. Sock time? I think so!

I wrangled up a new/old bike. It’s old and neglected, but it has so much potential that I couldn’t pass it up. My friend, a mechanic at the local bike co-op, is coming over in a few days to assess the damage and the work that needs to be done. I’m so excited!
I’m going home from school in two weeks for my mom’s birthday. There’s a really good piercing place there. Before I get back on the highway to drive home, but after I say goodbye to my parents, I’m stopping to get my nose pierced. It’ll happen. Jan. 25. I hope.
I got a harp holder for Christmas! I can fumble my way through Heart of Gold. I need to get the whole thing solid on guitar, because when I try to throw in the harmonica solo, there’s so much going on that I have to think about. But it’s promising. I’m super excited!!
So I’ve been officially single for just over six months, which seems like it should be plenty of time. But I still feel like I need someone in a romantic, cuddly way. Which I don’t. I miss the way I was single before I wasn’t single, you know? I miss the total sense of independence and the lack of needing someone in that way. I know that being single is really good for me right now. I’m focusing on getting to know myself, growing, learning; I’m keeping busy doing just that. I don’t want to want a relationship, but sometimes I do.
My other goals are good distractions from boys!
...I am now addicted to M* A* S* H. It is one of the funniest, most insightful shows ever. Growing up, I watched an episode with him every once in a while. I bought Season 1 for his birthday two years ago, but have only really gotten into it in the past two weeks. I’m almost done with Season 1 – only seven episodes left!
This is the second or third year that I’ve recited this poem for my family at Christmas-time. I want to be able to perform it dramatically, from memory.
Last time I didn’t even think about the triathalon until three months before. I’m slowly starting to run regularly, since that is my weakest of the three components. I want a 8:00 mile, at the slowest. In January I want to run 2x/week.
My mom has taught me how to knit about a billion times, and I keep forgetting. We went skiing this weekend and on the way there (5 hours in the car) she taught me again. So right now I’m working on a scarf, so I remember what to do. Once I run out of this yarn, I’m going to get more and start making socks.
I want to have the socks finished by the end of January, so I can actually wear them before it starts looking like spring.
I found two harmonicas in my house (they used to be my brothers’), discovered some old Dylan vinyl, and decided I wanted to learn. I just got a new one in the key of G, and my uncle gave me a harmonica holder. My first song goal is Neil Young’s Heart of Gold on harp and guitar together.
I can play the intro (first harp section) for Heart of Gold. One measure at a time…
Additionally, I’ve found www.harmonicalessons.com to be very helpful.
