Well, I started learning, slowly. I pretty much got so far as to be able to pronounce all the sounds ok, but not much further than that yet. I met a Japanese girl at work today who was kind enough to write my name (Amanda) in katakana for me. I thought that was really nice of her. (= Sooo since my book doesn’t have any katakana (or Japanese text at all) I decided to use an online alphabet to try to write it myself, without peeking at the one she made for me…
Problem 1: It took me forever to be able to find a chart that included “da”. I did eventually find it here—http://www.tokyowithkids.com/fyi/katakana_chart.html (Can anyone confirm that this chart is accurate?)
Anyone know why that would be so hard to find??
Problem 2: I assumed that it would be spelled with the katakana for “a” “ma” “n” “da” but that appears not to be the case as there is no “n” katakana in my translated name.
CORRECTION: There is an “n,” I just wrote the wrong thing. Oppsies. Ignore problem 2.
