I’m doing this, but I need to figure out how to organize the little bugger.

going pretty well

pretty much accomplished 2 years ago

I am getting pretty good at this. If I don’t get there early it’s because I looked at the clock and chose to do something else instead of leave, not because I wasn’t ready on time.

budget my money

I’ve started keeping track. Next I will examine my spending and see where to cut. Does anyone have advice on compulsive spending habits?

I felt better emotionally after I ran yesterday. It helps to have my clothes and discman set out ahead of time.

Get organized and Stay organized! (read all 5 entries…)
what I did for my room 2 years ago

Stuffed animals went in a net in the corner above my desk. I couldn’t find one already made so I sewed some loops onto a piece of netting.

Mounted a little shelf on a wall and got my collections off the dresser. Shadow boxes are good too. Beware whether they need to be mounted in studs. Don’t put things over your bed that could fall!

Got some big cardboard boxes and cut them down to fit under my bed. They are now drawers that hold my art supplies and all kinds of things.

A desk supplies holder is essential. Try a spinny one with compartments for all your pens and sticky notes and everything.

CD tower!

Put clipart labels on boxes and plastic drawers.

Went to a shoe store and asked them for shoe boxes they were going to throw out; they now contain different things and are stacked up on my closet shelf.

Drawer dividers are a good thing. So are shallow boxes with compartments.

Altoids tins can hold small beading or art supplies.

All my grooming supplies are on one isolated flat surface.

I have a recycling drawer.

A bulletin board! Just a small one mounted over my desk where I tacked up all my notes that would otherwise just get scattered all over the desk.

look for ways to mount things on the walls (make them stable and don’t put things over your bed that could fall).

A file box or cabinet can hold all your important papers in different folders.

Shoe rack and magazine holders.

Someplace visible for your library materials so they don’t get lost and overdue.

Divide clothes in closet into shirts, jackets, etc, and have one hanger between each group, write on little piece of paper a label and use packing tape to put it on the facing side of the hanger, (laminate it with the tape) sticking up so you can see it, it’s a divider label.

go to bed on time
10:00 2 years ago

At 8:00, I’ll put on my jammies, eat and then brush my teeth, get everything off the bed, turn down the bed, take care of everything that still needs doing that day, and inform people that I am going to bed at 10:00. I’ll make sure all I have to do at that time is climb into bed and turn off the light. I’ll look forward to my reading time, as I don’t always get to read at other times. Exercise during the day is imperative.

When I have gotten up about six every day for seven days, I can watch an episode of Smallville I have on tape.

listen to more music.
cheerful music? 2 years ago

I am so depressed, things are so overwhelming right now, please recommend some cheerful music for me. I’ve started listening to Bob Marley. There was a theme song to a show that went something like “my heart . . . I’ts overflowing with hope”. I need to listen to stuff like that. Please, I’m depressed, it hurts so much, I’m trying to do the things I need to do for it but if you read this post please recommend something!

make some friends
danger? 2 years ago

How do you know your new friend is not an axe murderer? How do you know if it’s safe to go in someone’s house? Comments on this would be appreciated. That said, I’m going to make five friends this semester (or more).

Finish all my homework
to do this . . . 2 years ago

I’m going to stay on campus after each class until I get all my homework done, or as much of it as possible. I’m utilizing my planner, and projects will get started right away instead of right before the due date.

I need to write everything down in it, assignments, appointments, everything. This gets marked off when I’ve been using it successfully for a month.

For a month 2 years ago

Running twenty minutes or more a day
as many push-ups and sit-ups as I can manage
stretching
morning and evening yoga video

this gets marked as completed when I’ve done it (almost) every day for a month.

And I can mark off this goal when I’ve done it straight for the first two weeks AND I feel confident that I’m strongly in the habit of it.

on time for classes 2 years ago

Classes start Monday. I WILL be on time. I will get ready fifty minutes before I have to go. I’ll have eaten breakfast already; all I have to do is get dressed and groom and pick up everything I need for that day, which I’ve set out the day before, (including my clothes). I’ll leave at least thirty minutes before class starts and in doing so I’ll be fifteen minutes early. I’ll have a book to read. It will feel so good being early instead of late! I bet I won’t be nearly as anxious and I’ll actually get the work done! Hooray for me!

I'll count this as done 2 years ago

because I’ve done most of my own music that I want to have on the computer and I’ve fallen into the habit of putting borrowed CDs on there. I liked some of the suggestions from Greg (thank you, Greg) and am expanding my horizons.

new goal 2 years ago

I’m going to be at least fifteen minutes early for everything for ten days before I mark this goal as completed. Let’s start now, I’ll put out everything I need for the morning. Then I’ll write a little quick schedule- on the ‘stickies’ program, for the morning, including the time I have breakfast, what I’m having, when to get dressed and when to leave the house.

found a way 2 years ago

Okay, I’ve found a pretty good way to do this, so screw my fourteen day plan, I want this marked as completed NOW! I’m trying to keep my list short and simple. The next thing to focus on in the morning is being on time.
