Yesterday I googled a small area a few hours from our house. I figured it would be fun to see what sort of real estate was available. The area is one of our favorites. We go there for retreats. There was a house, not a GREAT house, and not really a “log cabin”, but a nice little house. The thing was, the surroundings in the picture we so perfect! I feel like, now, maybe, this is actually possible. I’d have to find high speed internet or my family won’t move with me, and reasonable driving distance for things, but it COULD happen.

How I did it: I put the word out to friends who are "yard sale" shoppers that I was looking for a small djembe/doumbek, and found that one of them owned one. Since they were not using it, they let me borrow it for a couple of months, and when I offered to buy it, they gave it to me :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: For the last 20 days I sat at the computer and really contemplated life and came up with 5 things that truly make me happy. Just 5 each day. I'm going to miss this part of the morning routine. I'll have to start another list. Read how I did it…
My son was dianosed in 1999 when he was 5 years old. At the time all I knew of autism was “Rainman”. My son had no language delay and had decent eye contact, but when he couldn’t function in a typical classroom, we had to start looking. The last 10 years have been frustrating and beautiful and sad and funny and every other emotion you can imagine. Now, as a teenager, he is the most fascinating person I know. We chose to home school and it was the best choice we could have made. I can follow his passions around and we’re both learning about life and patience and autism. I say “I’ve done this” but really? You never stop learning.
I started sorting things for a church yard sale that never happened. I had a big enough mountain of throw aways that I couldn’t bear to just “throw it away” so some friends organized a group yard sale and we participated. The community piece of that was fun… I think I can say that was the only fun part. OH! Getting rid of things was fun. I think from now on I’ll work up small piles and donate them regularly instead. I endedup with $70 I didn’t have before and a much cleaner house. It also started me looking at “stuff” differently. Not an altogther bad thing.
