Learned how to make a tulip btw, gave up on the unopened lotus blossom for now.
In other noise spent way too much at the stationary store on origami paper and am likely to make a return trip in the next week or so. The theme for Christmas this year is origami, plan on decking the halls with all my practice attempts.

I love New York, I really do. BUT I cannot afford to buy nice clothing in New York.
Now I’m no brand name junkie, but I do like a certain level of quality. I know fabric and construction. The clothing that is in my budget is pretty awful, and it kills me to spend my money on clothing that’s going to fall apart before too long.
I’ve hit the point were my good clothes are starting to wear out, and rather than go out there and get all bummed about the money I’ve spent, this year I’m going to try to make some of my clothes. A new Michael’s just opened up in Manhattan! And only fourteen blocks from me! So now I’ve got access to patterns which have been surprisingly difficult to find in the city. Can’t wait, though I imagine the transition will be a little difficult.
I’m not really used to making ready-wear clothes. I’m used to working on cosplays and costumes which in my opinion are a little more forgiving because it’s not the sort of thing you wear everyday or in a corporate setting.

So I finished An American Childhood by Annie Dillard. Up next will be re-reading and finally finishing A Pilgrim At Tinker Creek.
An American Childhood wasn’t as good as what I remembered of Pilgrim Creek. With that said though, she was an awesome kid. So many things reminded me of my own childhood. Except that instead of the Field Guide to Ponds and Streams, my bible was an encyclopedia of equestrian medicine.
