I did get one. On my left wrist. It’s what I’ve wanted for a decade now….a Mayan hieroglyphic of the Guatemalan Bird…the quetzal. The guy did a nice job….but for some reason I wish it was off now. I don’t know why. Well, I think it was due to this CSI thing I saw one day…and they were asking someone to try and identify the subject…and the person couldn’t think of anything unique…so the cops were like….”give us anything….facial hair….body rings…tattoos”....and it just made me realize that I now have something to help people intrude my privacy. Not like I’m going to go do anything illegal ever….....but it made me feel like I had converted into a republican…where I was inviting people to be all up in my business…and instead of being something private with special meaning just to me….I instead had made it easier for “The Man” to harass me.

Yea, I sound crazy. I’m aware of that.

So, I actually was awarded a fellowship this year so that I didn’t have to work but focus on studying and research. It was awesome. This is my last quarter on it…and it’s still not a grant….but it’s money and it looks great on my CV. I did get a small grant earlier on in my studies…so, I think this counts as meeting my goals. However I still need money…so I will probably be more specific about my next grant wish.

Well, it dragged on long enough…but this past February I finally defended my masters thesis and I am walking this June. YEY! It really took ridiculously long, but I am glad it is done with and I have another degree to fall back on. Now, I just have to finish this PhD thing….
