Starting Point 17 months ago

I have a couple of books to work through as part of this goal. First one is the Motley Fool Personal Finance Workbook. I quite like their stuff so this will be a good starting point. For general reference I have the E&Y Personal Financial Planning Guide which got excellent reviews on Amazon. This will take a bit of time but I am looking forward to having a long term financial plan to follow.

Double SnowMan! 17 months ago

88! Yes, I shot an 88 on Saturday – best 18 holes of golf I have ever played, ever! The straight drive cure did not work 100% I have to line up correctly before I can make this adjustment and I did not work that out until the back 9. Still, I did better all round. I made a better start, played the par 3s much better and putted well (at least 3 10 foot+ putts). Only 9 more shots to find and this goal will be done. Range again yesterday and I think I will focus on the 6,7,8 irons as these are the ones that I hit the most during the round. Also, I need to slow the fairway woods right down as they are much better when I can do this.

Still Cash 17 months ago

So, I went all cash on June 6th when the DOW was at 12206. It is now 12 days later and I am still all cash and the DOW is 12029 so I have avoided a 200 point drop. Apple is now settling around $180 but I think I have to wait for news on Steve Jobs’ health before I get back into that company. Mastercard has settled around $293 and seems to be forming a new base. No new buys though until a new confirmed rally appears. I have ordered a copy of “What works on Wall St.” It was recommended in “Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing” so I thought I would take a look.
