My Mom used to speak Spanish to me when I was a kid, but we answered her back in English and eventually she stopped. I took Spanish in high school, and got good grades, but never kept it up.
As I progressed in Japanese, the thought came to me that i should learn a language closer to home. At least learning to write Spanish should be easier than learning kanji.

Jot it down

I’ve started a diary that I will use to practice my Japanese. I got the idea from one of the members of my Japanese Language and Cultural group, a native Japanese, when he showed me his diary where he jots down his daily activity in English. I’ve always kept a journal for my writing, yet never came up with the idea of doing something like that to help with my Japanese. I think using this means of practice will help me a lot.

I’ve not found a new job to move to as of yet, though I have to acknowledge that I’m not doing as much as I should. After 14 years in the same place my job-seeking skills are somewhat rusty, and my self-confidence in this area is lacking.
I have been in contact with friends, and some openings have appeared through this networking. I’m resolving myself to ‘buckle down’ and get moving on this. Developments at my current place of employment only reemphasize that it is no longer the place for me.
