How I did it: Started training in January with an Olympic coach, then, as soon as the weather permitted, started putting in miles on the road. A supported ride (mine was with Best Buddies) is definitely the way to go, since they had frequent food and drink stops, plus Police Officers stopping traffic at nearly every intersection along the way!One flat tire, and my fever broke along mile 26; I had to drag myself out of bed, and nearly threw in the towel… Read how I did it…
How I did it: A local bike store was having an unadvertised "meet and greet" sponsored by Trek. I just happened to be there the day before buying some supplies and heard about it. Glad I did, I've always been a big fan of his. I know everyone talks about Lance Armstrong, but LeMond went on to win two tours after being shot in a horrific accident which nearly killed him. Real down to earth guy, he was taking the time out to shake hands, pose for photos,… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Read a few books, then decided that a "hands-on" approach was more my style, so I headed out to my shop and started making sawdust. Fortunately I had a lot of scrap wood at my disposal.... Read how I did it…

went out on a 38’ yawl (2 masted sailboat) with an experienced captain, much easier to sail, since it doesn’t react so quickly to the wind changes
Went out sailing with a friend the other evening, got stuck in the middle of the Charles River Basin-no wind! Had to row back to the boathouse using a laundry detergent bottle with the bottom cut off. Not what I’d consider a stellar start…maybe I can persuade her to take me again.
