09_03.05 Today I sent in my application for adoption! The ball is rolling. I’m scared. I still have my doubts, but I know i really want this. I keep having to remind myself that I’m an adult, capable of making my own decisions! I CAN get a dog. It’s OK.

How I did it: I sent my resume out to a million different people, but specifically my old boss - asking to come by and see the owrk they've been doing, say hi to everyone...and perhaps talk about returning to my old position for the summer. The "interveiw" went well - hugs all around from my old and excited co workers and 3 weeks later I got an emails saying they wanted to hire me. YayHooray - take that bum economy. Read how I did it…
How I did it: 2 weeks ago the most beautiful little guy showed up on the adoption website, and I finally submitted my application. That day the agency called my referances, and about two days ago they called me and said I was approved to take him home if I wanted to.Now he lives in my home and I'm trying to be patient with his puppiness. Read how I did it…
Step 1: Brush up on my French.
I took French in high school and I know it pretty well. At least well enough to read it…and get along OK in France last time I was there. I’d really like to be able to speak better than a 2 year old french child though.
Step 2: Learn more Italian.
After spending almost four months living in Italy you’d think I’d know more, but I can pretty much only ask for directions (which must then be given in pointing and diagrams because I can’t understand the answers), I can greet people and order things too. But thats about as far as I got. It’s really not as hard as it seems and I’m confident for the future.
Step 3: Learn Spanish.
Growing up close to the border I’ve picked up enough to joke around with my friends and to be able to identify single objects and read most signs. But I can’t exactly string sentences together and I think this would be immensely helpful in the future (really, unlike French and Italian) since I would like to continue to live close to the Mexican border.
Step 4/5: Conversational Greek and Hindi
Greek because I think it’s a freaking amazing language. I have never had more fun learning simple words while I was there. (Mostly, ‘Hello’, ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘I’m sorry/Excuse me’.)
Hindi because…well…why not.
So far I can officially claim North America and Europe. Well, I live in North America and have visited 16 states…and I lived in Italy and have visited 7 countries in Europe.
I would also temporarily settle for visiting all the countries in Europe and or/South America.
