Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Second step: feel the change :)
I`ve spent some time thinking about what should I do to feel good and reached this conclusion – simply enjoy the everyday life (d-oh!). It may seem trivial, but for me it`s like discovering life on a different planet. When you`re a work-a-holic, you lose contact with reality and lead this sad life in one dimension… Here are some ideas for me to follow :o)
  • bake a different bread every Sunday
  • make an extravagant birthday cake
  • go for a walk at least 3 times a week (walinkg to work daily doesn`t count! But is really welcome ;o)
  • turn off TV, read instead
  • smile :o)

First step - accept the problem. Done.

When your Boss tells you you should stress less or you`d face a burnout and your Husband asks if He should buy you some antistres pills you know that there`s something wrong with you. I heard those 2 things few weeks ago and since then I`ve been trying to find inner peace and change somthing in my attitude. I used to think that my emotions are my business and I was perfect at not showing them, never thought that someone could actually see them too (silly but true – I was really sure about that!). Right now I`m somewhere in-between – trying to find a balance between doing my work well and enoying a life I have outside the office. I have this tendency to be extremely lazy when I don`t watch myself – when I`m trying to relax it ends up with failing at work, since I … can`t stop relaxing… Phew – there`s a lot of work to be done.

PS. I still can`t believe that… hearing about working too much FROM YOUR BOSS?
