I went solo travelling for 6 mths in 2004. Loved it, although you do need to be organised and be prepared for the pitfalls of jet lag and culture shock.
I taught English in Bangkok, Thailand for 1 mth,
spent 3 weeks travelling in Thailand,
3 mths in Oz,
10 days in Hawaii,
1 week in San Francisco and
1 week in Santa Barbara & New York.
Saw some great countries and met loads of people. Ultimately it was of great benefit to my world view and my acceptance of other people. I learnt a lot about myself and put much of my life in perspective.
All in all, a fantastic experience!!

I joined an am dram group a couple of years ago. I was in a few things the first season and after a year out I’m involved with my 3rd play this season which is a lead role. V demanding on time and one’s resources but with 2 weeks to go til curtain-up I know the 10 night run will be an immensely rewarding experience.
Great to meet new people and get involved with something you love!!

I tried internet dating Nov 2005-March 2006. While I didn’t form many lasting attachments to anyone I had a great time, and learnt a hell of a lot myself and other people.
However, I would strongly advise patience and a stomach for rejection – people tend to play fast and loose with one’s expectations when you’re online.
Good luck!
