How I did it: Blood, sweat, tears, and a heaping helping of patience. Lol. The longest, most challenging project of my lifetime. Love and kindness go a long way. Openmindedness is a key to helping a child find their individuality. Read how I did it…
a small pow-wow in my local area ten years, or more, ago now. Was granted permission to photograph a dancer’s fancy dress. Sadly, the photograph did not turn out well. A native woman saw me photographing the male dancer’s costume from the back and stopped to admonish me “you must have permission”. Fortunately the dancer confirmed that I’d done the honor of requesting permission first. The parade of dancers, drumming, and dance were fascinating. There were booths selling everything from sinew and bone beads to drums and rainsticks. I made a dream catcher with supplies I purchased that day.
Another period of unemployment leads to progress in watercolor painting. I have another newer, better work than this that I have not scanned yet. Something to look forward to. I am told that I’m like most artists, in that most of my work does not meet my own standards. But I love the process, so perhaps I am onto something good here.
