I talked to our Maryland chapter PR guy, and he’s open to new ideas but they seem kind of attached to the challenge walk, mini-walks, and bike ride things. I’m a bit of an athlete, but none of those events appeal to me. On the other had my (non-athletic) husband does the Polar Bear Plunge into the Chesapeake Bay every January for Special Olympics, which seems cooler (no pun intended) than breaking one’s buttocks on a bike seat for 150 miles. Maybe parachuting??? Yeah, skydiving for MS. Ugh, there’s gotta be something…

Ugh, this company is so screwed up, how did they ever stay in business? I always thought people who went into business for themselves were really brilliant, now I wonder why I thought that! (This is the same disillusionment I felt when I realized that the people who run large companies are largely mediocre.) So I’ve worked for this small company for 4 days, I can see what’s not working here, and I’m just going to fix it. Step 1-get a list of current clients (yes, it’s that bad)....
I think boxers are the best athletes! I have been practicing a style of boxing for 3 years, and I love it. It would be cool to start a gym that caters specifically to boxers and other combat sports/martial arts practitioners, but I don’t think there’s money to be made in this, especially where I live, in yuppy suburbia. Maybe I’ll look into the economics of it before jumping to conclusions…
