I’ve been wavering on doing this for a while now.
I know I’d like to do it and tell my self I’ll be totally observant by the time I get married, but I know I have to start sometime before that, and since I want to marry someone who thinks it’s important to keep Shabbat it’s not very helpful to still be so sacrilege :P
I am torn between trying to avoid the 39 melachot, versus doing things that make Shabbat feel special, like listening to mp3 lectures on the parshah, or my cd with Shabbat songs and prayers on it.
Also it’s hard to stay motivated. Obviously being shomer shabbos should be something one chooses, but I think I need someone to force me. My parents think it’s wierd so I need to move out (again) into an apartment within walking distance from the Chabad house. And find a roommate who’ll come with me & make me go!
How did you guys take the plunge/stay motivated?
Forget it. It’s too hot in Phoenix. I’ll start riding my bike to class as soon as God lowers the temperature some 20 degrees!
