I got my labret done about 5 months ago now. It did hurt, but not too bad (just made my eyes water). I had no swelling at all, and the pain stopped pretty much after he’d put the stud through. It just felt a bit odd sorta hanging there…
I did wake up a few times the next couple of nights where I kept knocking it in my sleep though (ouchy).
It was difficult to eat with before I got used to it. Because the bar was so long it kept catching on my teeth when I was trying to eat (another ouch xD), so I had to eat really slow lol. After a couple of weeks I’d got the hang of it.
I didn’t use any special stuff on it, just soaked it in hot salty water twice a day. Thats all you need. Try to use sea or rock salt though, as normal table salt can irritate the wound (has too much of something in it – can’t remember what). I’ve never had any problems with it at all.
Just make sure the piercing studio you go to is clean, and ask as many questions as you like. They should be happy to alleviate any fears you have. Be warned though, piercing is addictive….
