How I did it: I started taking lessons in september, and I have previous knowledge of music and stuff (I play flute to grade 8 standard and have previously played violin) so it made it considerably easier to learn for me, if you are starting from scratch with no previous musical knowledge don't expect to progress as quickly as this, as string instruments are extremely hard to learn to play, but percevere! It will be worth it! I'm now starting Grade 4 p… Read how I did it…
I learnt to play the Violin for seven years, then quit in exasperation as I had played for seven years and i was only at grade 3 (i could have possibly played harder stuff), and I had recently took up flute (at the time) which after two years I have just passed my grade 6 with high Merit. Now, i’ve decided I was rather silly. It’s been two years, and i sorely miss it. However, my old violin is 3/4 size andi sold it, so i would need a violin, and i have music and stuf to learn from. is there any tips on getting back into playing Violin? I should be taking proper Cello lessons when I get back to school. My fingers still have dexterity, as i play flute and Sax. any tips and advice (including where to get a decent, but relitavly cheap full size violin) would be much appreciated.
Well, what can i say? I learnt Recorder (as so many do), then took up Violin, that lasted 7 years. In year 5 I took up flute for a year, but didn’t like the teacher, so stopped. So, in the winter of 2004, the school’s winter concert, and again, I see the flutes playing, and I think, “god, I miss playing the flute”, so I took up lessons again. Best thing I ever did! I’m now taking my grade 6 flute exam with Guildhall on the 16th July. It’s a great way to have fun, relieve stress, and put any emotion that you have held up into your playing. A great asset in fast progress is already having knowledge of the treble clef, time signatures, etc etc. General music theory really. Really a must do, if you want to do it, DO IT!!! =)
