Loaded Potato Skins and Chicken

I’ve tried the loaded potato skins tonight and finally got around to making the orange chicken last night. The former was a bit of a failure unfortunately but the latter was delicious. I’m really pleased with it and i’ll definitely be using it again for a quick meal after uni / work.

Take 2

Upped the ante to 3×35 second handstands and managed to pull it off but it was pretty dicey at the end. I might just stay at this level for a little while longer so I don’t risk breaking my neck. Really, really don’t want to be found half naked and unconscious.

First attempts

I’ve been struggling a bit to kick up into a wall handstand so i’ve been having to cheat a little and go to a headstand first and then lift myself up. The silver lining is that I can actually lift myself and do about 4-5 full handstand push ups. Ideally though I’d like to be able to kick up in one move so I’ll need to search around for some advice. At the moment I can just about manage 3×30second stands.

The End Is Nigh

I did it. I passed my final exam and am therefore completely exempt from further assessments before graduation. I’ve also got my new job sorted out and I know my first year rotations. Geriatrics, General Surgery and A&E here I come.

I don’t want to stop improving though so this is definitely an ongoing goal.

Goal

I’ve finished week 3 of the 100 push up challenge and i’m going to take this opportunity to change direction from increasing stamina to improving my overall strength. The advice of a few different sources has led me to try Convict Conditioning which employs bodyweight training for this goal.

Specific : I’ll be working through the ‘Good Behaviour’ programme for now and this consists of workouts on alternate days. Unfortunately i’m unable to use my current pull up bar in the flat because the doorframes are too large and as such i’ve changed the pull up days to push ups.

Measurable : I’ll be following the progression steps laid out within CC and will only move to the next step when I can complete each WITH PERFECT FORM.

Attainable : I’ll be taking a slow approach to this goal and starting with steps at a level well below what i’m capable of in order to train my joints and to slowly work on perfect form over time.

Relevant : My goal all along has been to improve my appearance and build up strength. This is a great addition to achieve this end and can be easily achieved whilst working hard on medicine.

Time-limited : This goal has to be completed by 29.05.12

German Friendship Cake - Success !!

It only took about 10 minutes to finish off the cake mix and, although it said to bake for 45 minutes, I gave it a bit longer with tinfoil on as the centre was a bit raw.

I’ve brought some in for the ward staff and it’s disappeared in about 10 minutes. Fortunately I now have some helpful contacts on my side as a result. Bribery FTW.
