Born Isabella Baumfree to two slaves in New York, USA around 1797. She was born a slave and later freed in 1827. Isabella adopted the name Sojourner Truth in 1843 and went onto become a truly remarkable woman. She spent her life campaigning against slavery and fighting for women’s rights.
Sojourner Truth battled long and hard through her life in many campaigns. She supported the US Cival War, cared, nursed and taught free slaves and travelled around the country fighting the evils of slavery and speaking in support of women’s rights. During the Cival War, Truth went round the midwestern states rallying support for the anti-slavery Union cause. She was met with great hostility and was even threatened by some people who said that they would burn the hall down where she was giving a speech. Truth simply replied, ‘Then I will speak upon the ashes’. When Truth began campaigning for women’s rights it was a tough road for her, not only being a woman but a black woman. This didn’t deter her though, it only made her fight harder for justice. Around this time there were a number of Women’s Rights campaigns but mostly led by white women. When Truth came on the scene it caused some controversy and she was even made unwelcome by some of these white women campaigning for their so-called Equality! They would not accept an ex-slave as their equal.
As you can see Sojourner Truth gave everything she had into promoting her causes and trying to make this world a better place.
In 1850 she even created her own book; Narrative of Sojourner Truth, This was not only a remarkable accomplishment for a black woman but made all the better seeing as she couldn’t read or write, but instead dictated it to her friend who wrote it for her. Sojourner Truth even met Lincoln and admitted to him that she had not known who he was before he became president. He replied that it was alright because he had heard of her many years before.
Sojourner Truth was an amazing woman, truly remarkable in every sense. She dedicated her life to change the bad situations which were going on. She inspired people then and she inspired people then. Let her work not go to waste.
Rest in Peace – 1883.

Hey, I discovered two nice things that have really really helped me and thought that I would share them with you all, so maybe you could try them out if you wanted to.
The first one is to get an alias. This helps me loads if I’m trying something I wouldn’t normally do. In my case, my friend adopted me as her Irish little sister, and gave me the name Cara Nevin, and then we later added in Saoirse. Cara Saoirse Nevin. Saoirse means Freedom. So whenever I’m in a weird situation that is making me anxious or whatever, I take on the whole of Cara. It helps to give me confidence when I normally wouldn’t have any =]
The second one works like a miracle. The secret is….
Listen to Bob Marley. I swear that guy heals the soul.
After listening to Marley and doing the above I’ve been happy. I didn’t need to ahve CBT today =] YAY! Progress

I’m mad and ashamed of humans. Because, it seems to me that a lot of humans are okay with being ignorant. Stuff happens, bad stuff, and they say, ‘oh well, it’s not MY problem.’
Well, it’ll be your problem when everything starts to go down the toilet and you end up dead or something. All because you didn’t want to take a little bit of reponsiblity.
Human’s are killing the Earth. Animals and trees have a right to life too. Just because they haven’t built cities, created tv and card, burnt down trees to fuel their lifestyles, doesn’t mean that they don’t. And it doesn’t make them stupid either. Sometimes I think that a lot of animals are smarter than us BECAUSE they haven’t done all of this rubbish. They live WITH the Earth, not against it.
When there are no trees the oxygen will run out and everything will die because it can’t breathe.
When the icecaps melt the Arctic and Antarctic animals will die, people will die, the world will get flooded.
When starvation, suffering, insane weather conditions and all such things are on your doorstep, maybe then you’ll think, ‘Oh, maybe I should have taken some responsiblity.’
It’s our JOB to look after the Earth. Not to kill it. There is more to life than going to university, buying cars, getting rich and overpopulating the Earth more than it is.
There are so many ways to fix this. I refuse to be one of them. I refuse to be the cause of the end of the world.
