You may think this flies in the face of my “become a professional artist” goal… but I want to have my cake and eat it too! Is that so wrong? ;-)
When I started freelancing over 10 years ago, doing digital design (web etc.), my “dream” was to have corporate clients for digital work which would feed money to my art work. Then I’d also show the art work and sell online. I’ve found some people that have done it, and make it look easy.
My goal now is to re-construct my freelance business and market myself as a creative director. A creative lead for web projects, putting together teams, scoping projects, while still maintaining a large hand in creative production.
All the while… feeding the creative side with art making. And selling of said art works and exhibiting.

Since having kids (one amazing toddler girl, one amazing baby boy) I’ve been without a home studio/office. Now, all my “stuff” is spread throughout the house. I’ve tried to convert the basement (partially unfinished) but it’s depressing to work down there. My goal is to get that darn basement cleaned up and finished (framing and drywall) either myself or hire someone. Then organize the space for work and play… studio and maybe some family room space.

I went to 2 art colleges and studied drawing and painting. After graduating, I exhibited a bit, but became frustrated. So I left “art” and became a digital designer. I’ve freelanced for 10 years now, but always “wish” I could leave the computer and just paint. But (gosh, lots of “but” here!) haven’t been involved in a show for years, haven’t done “art” in years. Trying to get back into it with crafty type painting to get around the frustrations. I feel sad that, maybe, it’s too late.
