OK, so I set this goal for myself to do all these things by september 15th. It is now September 13th, and my hand is broken…yet again. It is not that I don’t want to finish this goal (oh trust me I do). It’s just that it is not physically possible due to my hand. I have been told not to do any kind of excercise…to include crunches. Here is what I’ve accomplished so far before I broke my hand, and actually a week after I broke my hand (I didn’t go to the DOC for a week)
ran 10 miles (with broken hand)
12 pullups (1st time) 10 pullups (2nd time) (with broken hand)
20×2 pushups (with broken hand)
500meters swim without fins then 400 with fins (hands behind back for 1 lap) tread water for 10 minutes head out of water. 25 meter underwater swim. NOTE: this was all 1 day.
Obtained a swim qual 3 (jump off 10ft tower with boots/swim 25 meters with boots/jump off 10 ft tower with 30 lbs of gear/swim with 30lbs of gear-the gear floats)
5 miles in boots moderate pace
My daily training consisted of running hills 3 miles tuesday 4 or 5 mile hill run wednesday, 3 miles hills thursday, and 5-10 miles on saturday. I was swimming 500m+ Tues,Wed,Thurs,Fri,Sat,and Sun. For my swimming I would start off swimming 1 or 2 laps freestlye, then I would tread water for rest (head out of water) , and then swim 4 laps either breast stroke or side stroke. Then I would tread water again for rest (head out of the water). Then I would swim freestyle for speed 3 laps. Then I would swim underwater the length of the pool (25m). There were 2 days when I would swim 500m and then swim another 400m or so with fins and practice swimming 1 lap with my hands ‘tied’ behind my back. So I was doing pretty well with that regimen. At the end of the day at the pool I would always go to the deep end jump in and time myself treading water with my head out of the water. The best time was 12 minutes.
