Be more creative on a daily basis
In Progress 17 months ago

I have been building hand race car tracks using 9mm modeling plywood. I Marked the curves and completely lost track of time cutting the pieces out using my bandsaw while listening to the celtics clinch the championship. Tonight, I’ll smooth all edges rough edges and apply a coat polyurethane sealant. After the urethane has dried, I’ll hand paint a black road with a white dashed line down the middle of each track (passing is always encouraged in matchbox play). Creativity on a daily basis…? I’m getting there.

Catch a really big fish on the fly, "this big"
Someday 17 months ago

There is nothing like placing the fly and watching it float downsteam when the water flashes and bang! It could be a 6inch or 18incher that pulls the line tight, it doesn’t matter. The strike is powerful, explosive and for me the best part. Someday I’d like to catch a really big one on the fly, that’s all.

Create and nurture a bonsai forest
Natural Setting 17 months ago

I reasoned that the best way to germinate my apple, birch and black walnut seeds was to plant the seeds in their natural setting. So, I harvested and planted seeds in Fall of 07. This did not work. Not one of the planted seeds sprouted in Spring of 08. I suspect by the holes scattered about the nursery that the chipmunks got all the black walnuts and that the rest of the seeds either froze or were not completely stratified in the ground. Next Steps: First, leave the walnuts for the chipmunks. Second, learn more about propagation and how to more successfully stratify apple, birch and (new attempt) Japanese maple seeds before they are planted outdoors. Third, harvest seeds in the fall.
