I left my Dutch smalltown straight after highschool to go and live in one of the greatest cities in the world!
Never a dull moment throughout the year, went to see the greatest bands in the world (from the Ramones to Lou Reed, from Nina Hagen to Nick Cave!), went to see plays, and even opera. All the great museums, pubs and clubs… after a year I still hadn’t experienced it all.
Hope to go back one day..

One of the most eerie experiences in my life. The moment just before the sun disappeared completely I physically felt a strange sensation coming over me. I certainly understand better how people in other times must have felt when a phenomenon like this took place without knowing it beforehand..

Well, saw him play the for first time in 1992 in London’s Brixton Academy. Since, seen him also play in Holland and Sydney. But a special experience was a talk that he gave in Sydney’s State Library of NSW in December 2004. Afterwards there was a signing session and was able to meet my hero and shake his hand (wow, did I feel like an adolescent schoolgirl not wanting to wash my hands afterwards!)
What can I say…I just admire his extensive body of work, his voice touches my soul, and he’s just plain sexy!!

I started tracking my cycle 5 years ago when I stopped taking the pill.. not to become pregnant, but just to learn about my body a bit more.
Never before did I notice my ovulation, but nowadays I do and know beforehand when my menstration starts (very handy as I used to have a very irregular cycle)

Mowie and Mies are their names, and they’ve been with us for 10 and 9 years now. They even moved with us from Europe to the USA to Australia…these are well-travelled cats!!

I swam in a bioluminescent bay on Vieques in Puerto Rico…well, what can I say…just do it if you ever get the chance!

I’ve read a lot about how planes work, know what every noise I hear means, know it’s the safest mode of transportation…. but still: I’m afraid of crashing!! (well probably ‘just’ afraid to die)
And the the ironic part is that I need to go on a plane whenever I want to see my closest friends and loved ones, as I moved to the other side of the globe… I know I’m a bit of a masochist.

A year or so ago I started drinking a minimum of 2 litres/64 ozs a day, and you know what..? after a while you start to crave water in the morning when you wake up…and after a while you’ll even prefer water over sugary soft-drinks or even alcohol.
Just make sure youy always have a bottle of water closeby (and the nearest restrooms are also handy)

“Let’s go get lost, anywhere in the U.S.A.”
Should have done this while living in the USA!

..just the sound of it sounds magical.
These kinds of natural phenomena seem to show us humble creatures our place on this magnificent planet

It’s about time…. I should have finished ages ago…. I know, I know…..
And the worst thing is…I love the field I’m in, so I do not understand why it’s so hard to work on the damn thing.
Every day I tell myself: “today is gonna be a great, productive day!” but who am I kidding?
I still believe I can do it though…
