Cooking and baking.

I cannot cook or bake to save my life but I want to try and make some of the more difficult things like Macaroons, Meringue and Soufflés. (They’re all hard enough to spell, let alone make!

But first, I might have a go at that brownie-in-a-mug dealio. It seems as simple as it gets to me and looks tasty too :D

^ Has lots of quirky, interesting and creative ways of keeping your stuff safe, saving you money or just generally improving your life.

I particularly like the milk carton tools, tennis ball item holders and ice-cream cone cupcakes.

I want to be more creative again...

but I don’t know where to start!

I want to start to cook or bake something. Draw, paint or photograph something. I want to stick and glue and build something. I want to plant those tomato seeds. I want to sew and modify my own style of clothes. I want to write poetry or some kind of literary work. SO many directions and nothing’s happening.

22. Cycle to Work

I’ve been intending to cycle into work for ages but have always come up with some excuse (namely the weather). Last week I cycled into work 2 days in a row. It actually gets me there faster – no one-way system or traffic to deal with off-road :) – and it’ll be a good way to keep exercising.

April Bootcamp 2013: Spring Cleaning (read all 3 entries…)
Bootcamp Score: 5

I started off well this month, but that gradually wore off. I hope to continue the Spring Clean feel to this brand new shiny month. I still need to sort out all my drawers and bookshelves!

21. Use theatre binocculars.

This is related to the previous post really, but I thought it was pretty cool so deserved its own number. We were sat at the front of the dress circle and they were available to hire for £1, so we did it.

20. See Derren Brown Live.

I saw Derren Brown’s ‘Infamous’ show in Oxford this week and it was just brilliant. He is witty, crazy intelligent and overall a great showman. I would’ve loved to have seen his previous shows too though, as this one felt a little different to the ones I’ve seen on TV.

Goal Recap 2/2

12. Read all the books I own
I should be sorting out my books for this month’s spring cleaning bootcamp and I’ll start by reading the Zombie Survival Guide to get me motivated again for my Zombie Skills goal. Then, I’ll pick one book per month and try and find more time to read.

13. Achieve 20,000 Gamerscore
I haven’t really played my xbox recently, but I go through phases where I do… lots. Eventually, I will end up getting the extra 3,000 points needed to get me to 20,000.

14. Get a kitten
I am not going to try and attempt this until I have learnt to drive and can sort out a suitable living space for a kitten. It would be nice to have a little fluffy friend in the house again, though.

15. Visit a Casino
As with my other goals, money is holding me out here because I’m gonna need something to start off with – even if I do lose it within mere minutes. I have never placed an official bet yet either, so maybe I’ll start small.

16. Leave notes in library books.
I was going to start collecting inspiring quotes in this section of my goals so I could leave them for others, but completely forgot about it. Oops!

17. Take More Pictures
I made this a goal when I was busy out and doing things. Now, I don’t really do much to merit photos being taken and I don’t do photography anymore. I’ve got to think about whether I can make this work or give up altogether.

18. Sleep on a rooftop under the stars
I still want this to happen – it’d be lovely. Perhaps when I’ve got a place of my own and someone to do it with.

19. Learn to Make Cocktails
My cocktail party has been postponed, but I’m still ordering in the spirits so I can get practising!

20. Make the most of my 20s
I added this goal mainly to see what other people are up to in their 20s and because I was lamenting no longer being a teenager. I can count this goal as complete if I manage to achieve my other goals and be happy at the end of it.

21. Learn Origami
This is a side project for me to do in my spare time. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much spare time as of late. Perhaps I can take the book with me and try some on the bus?

22. Design. Build. Grow. Make. Create.
I added this goal today. I often come up with lots of ideas of things I could make or customise myself instead of buying it, but forget it after a while. This is a journal of sorts for me to be more creative and hopefully show some results.

Goal Recap 1/2

1. April Bootcamp 2013
I find that bootcamps generally go well for me. They get me motivated and reading other people’s posts is a good way to inspire me. Spring cleaning steps are to sort through my drawers and give away anything I no longer need or want. I also need to clean up my computer (not because it’s dirty – get your mind out the gutter!) of all my old photos and music files that are clogging my HDD.

2. Learn 12 Vital “Zombie Apocalypse” Skills
I introduced this goal as a bit of fun and as a way to encourage me to learn something new but I’ve lost momentum with it. Perhaps I need a movie night and to re-read some of those books I have to tie in with goal #12.

3. Learn to drive
I’ve started driving lessons again but the issue isn’t that I have much else to learn, it’s just that I’m seriously lacking in confidence and experience, which is leading me to second-guess myself and screw up. I need to continue with lessons and try and get a relative or someone to let me drive them around.

4. Try 100 New Things in 2013
I am stumped with this one. I doubt I’ll be reaching 100 and I’m stuck with things to try or explore. Not sure how to progress except to get out into the world and find something to do.

5. Paraglide
This is something I still really want to do. The issue is finding the funds for someone to teach my how to do it. It’s not really something I can just find a tutorial on the internet for and do.

6. Find Balance
Planning out my week in advance on here really helps me to align myself with what is important and what I need to achieve.

7. Get a massage
A nice relaxing massage really does sound great, especially with all the back and muscle problems I’ve been having lately (wow, I sound older than my years here). The only issue is finding somewhere I can trust to go for it and, once again, finding the money to pay for it.

8. Learn Japanese
Having the discipline to self-teach yourself a language is hard. I really enjoy the process of learning new words and phrases, but it’s tough finding time to sit down and do it and to decide which resources to use. I have an old fashion book and tape combo which will probably end up with my sounding like I’m from decades past and I’ve also been picking up words from films and animé that I’ve been watching. Neither of these will really give me an accurate representation of the language without me going there and speaking to the people, however.

9. Speak French Fluently.
I’m not really actively working towards this at the moment but it would be great to finally be able to speak the language fluently. This time, I wouldn’t have to go so far to speak to the native speakers – France is just across the Channel and I’m there. I am definitely thinking about arranging some time to be spent there.

10. Learn 100 New Words
The aim is to post a new word daily until I reach 100 of them and revise them weekly until I know them all and can use them in a sentence.

11. Be able to do the splits again
This is all going to be part of my new exercise routine that I plan to do daily before going to sleep. Stretches and stomach work are planned for 20 mins a day before bed until I get back to the body I had before laziness set in.

April Bootcamp 2013: Spring Cleaning (read all 3 entries…)
Starting now.

Spring Clean My Living Space
My room and shared areas are now nice and tidy, I’ve had a massive clear out of my clothes and the move went well. This is a good start in this area, I think 
Next steps: Sort through my drawers and cupboards.

Spring Clean My Body, Health and Fitness
This goal isn’t going as well as I’d hoped. I ditched the gym yesterday in favour of going to the pub and eating terribly unhealthy food. Drinking too much probably wasn’t the best idea either. Thursday is my next Zumba class and I will have to be at the gym on Friday too to make a new start to this.
