Vol 8: The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche 1 week ago

This one took a while to get through, as there was lots to digest!

First a model for treating psychic processes energetically, paralleling the function of energy in physics.

Then a fascinating couple of pieces on the Transcendent Function (fairly central to Jung’s approach to individuation) and a review of the Complex Theory.

Then a look at human behaviour, then structure and nature of the psyche.

A couple of pieces on Dream analysis which were great, and then roaming into the esoteric realm with an exploration of the belief in spirits.

Some basic Analytical Psychology stuff, then an amazing look at the stages of life (and death) from a psychological point of view. Finally, a major work on Synchronicity, which blew my mind (particularly the first part).

Now… on to “The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious”, a collection of shorter essays on the topic, which the end of Vol 8 leaves one eager to look into (he makes some interesting assertions around the interrelation of Archetypes and Synchronicity).

Loan # 11: Ayudanos Señor 2 weeks ago

Antonia is the coordinator of her group, Ayudanos Señor (Help us, God), and her story is representative of her group. and of Esperanza’s Haitian and Dominican clients, many of whom recently emigrated from Haiti to the Dominican Republic. Her group is based in areas surrounding La Romana, an area where the economy focuses on sugar cane, where running water is not potable, and electricity is unreliable at best. Here she makes her home with her three dependents and her husband.

Antonia is excited to have successfully repaid her first loan without incident, and Esperanza is excited to extend her another one and see her continue to expand her food business. While she focuses primarily on fried foods and empanadas, with this new loan, she plans to expand into ice cream and sweets. She sees a market for these items and believes the increased profits will help her pay to transport for her children to school and to continue to expand her business. She thanks you all for your support.

Day 1! Back to square one 4 weeks ago

5:00, woken earlier by cats. Decided instead of getting back to sleep I would try to get some early morning work done, when I got to my computer, found another cat sitting in my chair.

Went to great effort to slowly move the chair over without making enough sound to wake up Aimée. Only AFTER I’d finished moving the chair over and sat down in a much less comfortable one did Fran jump off the chair, usually a sign that she’s about to start squeaking, which often DOES wake Aimée up.

Swore under my breath before I realized it.
