improve my tennis game
course?

I really want to take a class next semester, but I am sort of apprehensive at the same time. You see, I’ll be graduating (God willing) this December. Taking the course next semester would mean I have to continue attending school (no free rein on my schedule). I have to figure out what time/place I’ll be working with my bachelor’s before I sign up for a tennis class. Also, I might end up traveling and that would not permit me to take the class. We shall see. Ultimately, I could always take the course/lessons at some other time.

graduate from college (read all 5 entries…)
so close I can taste it

I have finally reached my final semester—only two month to go! All I have to do now is pass all my classes; I’ve never failed a university course (though I’ve come close), so this shouldn’t bee too hard. I am doing ok so far (solid As in four classes, so-so grades in the other two). My brain is fried after the last couple weeks though, which should explain my short sentences and mediocre writing on here, lol.

I only have four major assignments left:
  • Graded participation in Model UN next weekend (DC here I come! Wish me luck y’all).
  • Two minor (1500-word) papers
  • A major presentation and defense thereof (à la thesis)
  • One major (7500-word) paper

Along with those I have 10 big exams, and after that I am DONE! I want to keep my GPA up, but it’s so hard to focus right now; senioritis and indifference are undoubtedly getting the better of me. I’ll keep y’all posted on this.

teach
I want to teach

elementary school bilingual education. I’m graduating in December and afterward I plan on jumping right into an alternative certification program. I still get some perplexed looks when I tell people (“you wanna do what with your political science degree?” lol), but I think it would be a great fit for me. Here’s a list proving it, hehe:

1. I like working with kids
2. I love teaching (youth and adults alike)
3. I am fluent in Spanish
4. I think I’d be able to relate well with the kids and parents
5. I don’t think I’m too bad of a role model, hehe
6. Two-month vacay!
7. I want to go back to grad school eventually

On point six: I’d much rather earn 48k/yr and have a two-month vacation than earn 60 or 70k and have a two-week vacation. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE money, lol; I just really like the idea of being able to take off for 1½-2 months. And, hey, if I need the money I can just teach summer school or get a summer job or teach English abroad even, the possibilities are endless…

On seven: God willing, I’ll graduate in three months at age twenty. I’m looking at going to grad school in my mid twenties. I really want to get a master’s in linguistics – language acquisition or a related field and this would look pretty good on my application.

I really hope this works out for me. Like I said, it would be my ideal job, and the school districts in my area are desperately in need of bilingual/tesol faculty. Wish me luck y’all.
