In my blog today I talked about showing and demonstrating joy – in all circumstances. I’m a firm believer that joy comes from within, and what you believe should be seen and not just heard. I’m working on not sweating the small stuff and really focusing on being the best person that I can be. Setting a standard to guide what you want to be and become is one thing, but enjoying life and living what you believe is quite another.

We hosted a surprise birthday party for my grandmother this year – under the reality, do it while you can. We had just suffered a great loss in our family and I didn’t want to say, would have, could have, should have. We catered lunch for the Senior Center she attends, set up photos and pictures, sang happy birthday, and served dinner for 50. Surprise…for someone who doesn’t like surprises, she surely appreciated love in action. As for the family – I gave up on everyone doing it the same way, everyone contributing, everyone being supportive. We just did it. Happy Birthday Bigmama!
I sent out a note that invited family and friends over for a celebration on January 25th of next year. My motivation was to set a date, send it out, and decrease the opportunity to come up with excuses. In one month, we’ll be working on it even more. Our intent for 2008 – love as an action verb.
