How I did it: First step was retiring my old baggy jeans. The habit of living in baggy jeans and not planning what to wear sure died hard. It took a long time to part with them (only wearing them for Download and Sonisphere - tatty clothes for music festivals). Now I tend to wear normal fitting black jeans, skirts or dresses! "Whoah! She's got legs!" Was said repeatedly to me by both family and friends, and I've had quite a few compliments since putting… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Wipe off excess bright orange rust with a rag and WD40 Scrub away with a nylon brush and WD40 Realise it isn't working and resort to a brillo pad (soap filled metal scourer) Wash off soap and rust scum Dry pike head Give a thorough coating of WD40 to prevent dreaded rust coming back. I WILL mount it on my wall at some point! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I cut down to only one sugar in a coffee (and cut back on the coffee too) and limited myself to one chocolate bar in my lunch each day maximum. It was surprisingly easy, especially once all the Easter eggs were out of my way LOL! Read how I did it…
See all "How I Did It" stories...
I decided to tack (loosely stitch with modern cotton) my dress together… Except it didn’t want to stay together. I tried it on after tacking you see and when I came to take it off I heard the dreaded sounds of popping stitches. I don’t know whether I’d sewn my dress too small or whether I should’ve sewn it together a bit stronger. I managed to do this twice over.
... Once more, the pieces of my under-dress are folded up on my blanket box til I can face it again :(
Tried the new veggie curry at Weatherspoons… Not a big fan of it but at least I tried something new :/
I led a clan course on leatherworking on my own the other day! I made basic leather pouches with the 5 of them… Had to help them punch the holes and start off the lacings to pull it all together though. But yeah, not bad being able to lead the course after having made a pouch like it a year and a half ago!
Made a slide show advertising our business to be e-mailed to schools in the area that we haven’t contacted yet.
Went to the battle of Hastings re-enactment as a spectator this year (instead of being in the show) as Conquest and Regia weren’t taking part. Had lots of fun and found a really cheap wooden plate -only £3.50 rather than the usual £6/7! – Huzzah for having my own eating kit for the next show I go to rather than sharing Andy’s!
