Well, taxes came in and one credit card has now been eliminated. It feels good. I followed by taking the credit card (and it’s sister, a maxed out one) out of my wallet and putting them away. This will enable me to control my spending implulses.
Hopefully our financial situation will get better with me tutoring and my hubby’s possible promotion plus his pay increase come May for years in service milestones. (Every year pay goes up by about 3% and in addition to that, every 2 years on the enlistment anniversary, pay goes up a few hundred a month depending on rank)If he also gets a promotion that will be 3 pay raises for him in one year! Keeping our fingers crossed because we REALLY need the money.

How I did it: I studied hard, went to all my classes each day and really listened. I learned vs. just "going to school. Most importantly, I set a goal to do my personal best. I did not waste the opportunity that college provides for me. Hey, we're not in high school anymore! The work falls on our shoulders. Read how I did it…
Yesterday, I grabbed my reusable shopping bags and hiked to the store (about half a mile away). I was proud of myself for forsaking my vehicle this time. It was such a small, simple gesture of love towards our planet. It’s like deciding not to smoke around your child, because you know it hurts their lungs. I don’t want to poison our planet if I don’t have to.
I used to think, “what difference could I make, really?” And I’ve finally found my answer. “Huge.”
I now see how my actions affect the next 7 generations, like the very wise Native Americans believed. Each time I choose to walk, I choose to use less packaging, I choose to recycle, I choose organic over GMO, I am helping a small patch of grass stay green. I am helping one cubic inch of air stay pure, and I am helping I small organism reproduce. It’s one domino that can trigger the rest to fall in line.
You should try it.
I received a letter in the mail last week from Better Homes and Gardens that they have selected one of my recipes for the Honor Recipe category for June 2009! It’s a cash prize of $50! The only problem is that they mistakenly sent me the wrong tax and copyright forms, with my winning letter. The letter didn’t list the recipe, the copyright form was supposed to, but that one was for another winner. I received an email the same day that said it was a mistake, I did win, and that I would receive the correct forms in the mail. So, I don’t know which recipe it was that I won for, but the woman’s forms were for a cocktail, and I know I also entered a cocktail, so I think that may be it.
Anyway, this has renewed my passion to continue submitting recipe contests online. My dream is to enter a cook-off! I mean, think about it, you spend 10-15 minutes online and in return get $50 +! It’s a win-win situation!
Look out for me in June!!!
