Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

buy an apartment (read all 2 entries…)
Almost done

We will be moving into our own apartment within a month!

It all happened very quickly after we decided to make an offer on one the apartments we had in mind (the smaller and less expensive one). I made an offer on Thursday evening, got a counter-offer on Saturday, which we accepted, and on Tuesday a contract was signed. So five days was all it took to reach a binding agreement.

I gotta say I feel very good about this and I we’re both excited to get moving our stuff into the new place. :-)

Nearing completion

I have been planning on buying an apartment together with my wife for quite some time. We have both been saving money for about two years and finally we are getting into position where we can buy our own place.

Actually things have gotten so far that we have two potential apartments on mind and now we are trying to make up our minds about which one we’d prefer over the other. Both are less than 10 years old and located very close to where we live now. They have their pros and cons and the major difference between the two is size: one has 58 square meters with two rooms and the other has 75 sqm with 3 rooms.

The latter is about 20 % more expensive, but that’s not an issue. I’m confident that we could afford either one. The question is, do we really need the extra space? And how long are we going to live in the apartment anyway?

It’s not like either one would be our dream apartment, so I suppose it would make sense to start with a smaller investment now and move into a bigger apartment within the next 10 years.

Metallica - Motorbreath

Those people who tell you not to take chances
They are all missing on what life’s about
You only live once, so take hold of the chance
Don’t end up like others, same song and dance
