exercise at least twice a week
Successfully...for over a month 17 months ago

I joined a gym in early December. I’ve been going twice a week, with the goal that I would add a third workout, which I succeeded in doing this week. The gym is in my building so I’m going before work—which means I’m only doing 30 min on an elliptical jogging machine, but I’m doing it at a high enough level that it says I’m burning 500 calories. 500 calories burned before breakfast is good enough for me, even if I’m only exercising 30 min.

Before Thanksgiving, I had put on about 20 lbs pretty quickly after straying from my health kick from the spring and summer. Thankfully, I’ve lost about 13 lbs of that—and I did that DURING the holidays. 10 more lbs and I’ll be back to working on new weightloss. Baby steps…

Read the BBC's Big Read 200
Starting this goal with 28 already read... 18 months ago

I’m not going to list all the ones I’ve already read ‘cause it doesn’t matter. I’m currently reading On The Road. I’ve got an hour ride on the train twice a day so I figure if I’m reading, I should try and catch up on the stuff I should have been forced to read in my earlier education (our high school lit curriculum was pretty lax). I seriously doubt I’ll ever finish this goal…and I’m ok with that.

take my lunch to work regularly.
Cheaper and healthier! 2 years ago

The last couple months have been kind of lean on money because of moving so I’ve learned the wonder of tolerating Lean Gourmet entrees. I bring one for lunch pretty much every day. They’re about $1.39 ($1 on sale) and they’re about 200-300 calories. It’s not a big portion, but I got used to it. So I was able to have my lunches for $5 a week AND I’ve lost about 15 lbs in the last couple months.

I did eventually get tired of the salisbury steak, though…just…couldn’t…stand it…anymore!
