My lips 9 hours ago

It came to my attention recently that some of my friend’s really don’t like their lips. One friend commented that she always had to do “creative lip lining” so that she looked like she had fuller lips. It made me find a mirror at the first opportunity and have a good look at my own lips… and I like them! Nicely shaped, fairly full – but not TOO full…they are even a quite nice colour naturally, just a slick of gloss and I’m good to go!

Nice shape 4 days ago

I love this dress… clearly I am MUCH larger than this gorgeous model, but I think the shape would work on me. I would probably need to work out some kind of wrap/ jacket or something to cover my arms – I’m not comfortable showing the flab!

Pretty!

Bridesmaids 5 days ago

For some reason, whenever I had thought about our wedding in the past, I never pictured having bridesmaids! Weird huh? I always just figured that we would have a couple of close friends or siblings be our official witnesses and that would be that. Jeff, however, has changed all that by announcing that he would like his best friend as well as his two brothers as his groomsmen… so apparently, I’m having 3 bridesmaids! Jeff was divorced when I met him, and he always regretted not having his brothers in his wedding party the first time around, so I’m happy to accomodate that – but it just means I have even more decisions to make now!

I don’t think I want all three girls in cookie cutter, exact same dresses, as they are all individual, beautiful women – but obviously, there needs to be a common thread of SOME sort! I just don’t know whether to go same colour, different styles or same style, different colours or same style, different shades of same colour… or different styles in different shades! So many choices!

The thing is, accent colours aside… I quite like the idea of black dresses for the girls… :-D

I would like to have something that my friends and sister in law could wear again… so I don’t want to go toooooo over the top! Is black too stark though?

I don’t know – I need to have a chat with the girls… actually, I guess first I need to officially ask them if they would like to be bridesmaids!!! Hahahaha!

We've set the date! 6 days ago

Hooray! We have over a year to plan (and save!) – we’ve decided on April 16, 2011.

We’ve looked at a few possible venues and stuff and I’ve looked at dresses and thought about colours… but that’s about it for now!

I’m generally a fairly easy-going person and I handle stress relatively well… but I know this whole wedding planning thing has brought down many a calm, stable woman! Hahaha!

So, my goal is to do my very best to keep it together, focus on the marriage rather than the wedding and take it one day at a time! I can’t promise I’ll post regularly or often… but I’ll try to keep track of things on here when I can – and I’m VERY open to suggestions!! So please free to add your thoughts/ comments/ ideas!

I’m quite enjoying this whole goddess-like swishy dress business! I feel attractive and feminine and confident… I am truly amazed!!

This one is extra long and so easy to wear, I love it!

Photo as promised! 1 month ago

Seeing as we didn’t manage to get any full length shots Saturday night, I got my lovely man to take a photo of me tonight in the ‘goddess dress’!!

I just feel SO great in it – funny how one simple piece of clothing could make you feel so different!

Dresses 2 months ago

Calissa has mentioned in her posts under this goal that feeling feminine is a big part of connecting with her inner goddess, and wearing dresses and skirts helps her to do that… and I agree completely!

The thing is, I’m a tall, rubenesque chick with a BIG bum and thick ankles… so dresses and skirts haven’t graced my wardrobe for many, many years!

But yesterday, I went shopping with my beautiful friend Sammy and in a moment of self loving madness (yep, that’s loving, not loathing!) I tried on a maxi dress… man I love this floor length trend! Much to my absolute shock, I loved it! I felt like a goddess – so needless to say, I brought it home with me! (along with new shoes, evening bag and a sheer black wrap!)

So, now I can’t wait to wear it to my friend’s wedding next weekend.. and quite frankly, I also can’t wait to go shopping again and try on more dresses!! Hahaha!

60 mls Midori

Pretty simple really… half juice, half lemonade with the Midori thrown in to make it interesting! Very refreshing and easy to drink!!

My cheekbones 2 months ago

I have fairly high cheekbones – which I like. I’m not a beautiful woman by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m pleasant looking and occasionally, with a bit of effort and artful hair and makeup.. I think I may actually pass for pretty – and my cheekbones have a lot to do with that I believe!

6. Mission Impossible 3 months ago

30 mls Cointreau
30 mls Midori
30 mls Banana liqueur
30 mls Strawberry liqueur

Layer together and drink at your own risk!!

5. Strawberry Royale 3 months ago

30 mls Strawberry Liqueur
Champagne
Fresh strawberries

Add liqueur to a glass of champagne of your choice (Omni Blue is good – quite sweet!) then either slice a strawberry almost in half and put on side of glass or just float it in the drink! You may want to take off the greenery first if you do that though! Haha!

A dash of ANY liqueur to champagne adds a bit of excitement and makes it festive… and if you’re like me and find most true champagne way too dry, it sweetens it up a treat! (Good for when you only have a cheap and nasty bottle too!! And if you don’t have liqueur handy, cordial works well!)

4. Carumba 3 months ago

This one is a recreation (as far as I could decipher!) of a drink I had at our fave mexican restaurant!

30 mls Midori
30 mls Vodka
(or Tequila if you like, I’m a vodka girl myself!)
Tropical fruit juice (I use Multi V)

Mix and serve in a tall glass. Mess around with the measurements a bit if you like it stronger or weaker, add soda water or lemonade for a bit of fizz!

3. Voltage 3 months ago

30 mls Midori
30 mls Vodka
30 mls Cointreau

Pour. Mix. Drink. Breathe. You may need a friend to remind you to do the last one… kinda takes your breath away, but it’s worth it! Tastes great!!

(Again, add lemonade to make it a little easier to drink if it’s too strong!!)

2. Jellybean 3 months ago

30 mls ouzo
15 mls raspberry cordial
Lemonade
Ice

Add alcohol to tall glass of lemonade with ice – very dangerous drink, as it tastes so good and is easy to drink too quickly!!

Variation:

Add 30 mls of Black Zambucca to above to make a Black Jellybean – VERY potent, but very yummy!!!

1. Japanese Slipper 3 months ago

A crowd favourite!!

30 mls Midori
30 mls Cointreau
lime juice (or lemon)

Mix all ingredients together (with crushed ice is good in summer!) serve in martini glass and enjoy! I usually just use a “squirt” of lime juice – you can add as little or as much as you like. Have also added either soda water or lemonade and turned it into a “long glass” drink if people have found it a bit strong.

:-)

Ahhh... cocktails 4 months ago

I am rather well known among my friends as a bit of a cocktail connoisseur! Having hosted a few ‘cocktail’ parties at home, I’ve mixed quite a few!

So, partly to share some of the better cocktails my friends and I have discovered with fellow 43’ers and partly to make sure the recipes don’t get lost forever, this goal was born!

Okay... I'm just gonna say it... 4 months ago

I like my boobs! No, actually, I LOVE my boobs!! Considering my weight, they really aren’t that big (although, maybe if the rest of me were a bit smaller, they would look bigger?? lol) and they point a little more south than I would like them to I guess, but all in all – I have a pretty good rack!! Haha!

I hear women stress about their bust size, shape etc quite a bit and I must say, it baffles me. Believe me, I stress about other parts of body (although I’m doing my best to change that) but I never have about the ‘girls’. I know women with small breasts who wish they were bigger, big busted women who wish they were smaller, some are happy with their size, but they think they are too droopy or lopsided or stretch-marked…

Well, I am here to say that I LOVE my boobs just as they are right now. One is slightly larger than the other, just like 98% of the female population of the world and I range between a generous C cup to a D or even DD depending on the style of bra. I have a few pale stretch marks and a couple of freckles and even a small white scar where one freckle had to be removed when I was about 20 – but to me, all breasts are wonderful! They are womanly and sensual and allow me to wear great tops which show off my killer cleavage. I am proud to have a full curvaceous bust line – and if anyone ever asks me what I like best about my body, the answer will always be the same… my boobs!!

Practice self esteem (read all 4 entries…)
Recently 5 months ago

I noticed that I had become quite negative about people at work. I hate being the type of person who expects the worst from others and feels justified and almost glad when someone does something wrong.

This is not who I am, nor who I want to be!

I am in the process of spending 2 weeks consciously stopping myself from being negative and actively speaking up when others are being negative about each other. There is always something positive to say about everyone… sometimes you have to look really hard… but it IS there!!

I think this is a good way to ‘practice’ self esteem. I know I certainly feel much better about myself when I’m being positive about someone rather than bad mouthing them or being all smug when they make a mistake!!
