I worked really hard on myself over the last year. I spent time in therapy, I worked on being more open and inviting. I tried to spend time in “target rich” environments. I spent time engaging others in conversation and fun. And it happened. At dinner on one Sunday night, I made an offhand remark to a stranger sitting at the next table on the patio. Three weeks later, my whole world has been turned upside down. His too! He’s met my kid (NO ONE has done that) and we’re just having fun and planning for more time to be together. After all this time, I am so happy and I can’t believe it. I think I’m going to call this one DONE!!

So I was supposed to run my first 5K last weekend, but my partners decided to wait until September. They just felt they were not quite ready. My point was finishing it. So even if I drug myself across the finish line four hours later, I wouldn’t have cared. However, it does give me more time to prepare. so maybe I’ll be able to drag myself across the finish line in only three hours instead. ; – ))
I’m a little upset with myself for putting this one on my 43Things list now. It is tough and I am so out of shape. Even though I am going to have quite a while to train for this (the 5K is in mid-May) I am already having a hard time keeping up with the schedule. I really hate physical training and cannot wait for the day when they’ve solved the whole weight/health issue. I know they will because no one on Star Trek or Star Wars or any of the other futuristic shows is fat and they all look great in their matching unitards coverall thing-ys. I don’t think I can wait until 2509 to have that happen, so I’ll just have to run with the other fattys until then. Ugh!!
