My parents are Ethiopian and I’ve been back home once. I’m 20 years old and I still can’t speak it! It frustrates my relatives and makes it such a struggle to go to my Ethiopian Orthodox church and not understand a thing. I’ve learned some words over the years and can manage to understand people speaking it to me on some level, but I want to be fluent.

Tragically romantic
It was a breakup kiss with my first love. He came to my school at 6am before band rehearsal. i was a senior in high school and he was just starting college. He was explaining to me that he loved me but he needed to meet other people and it started pouring as I started crying. Then he kissed me, a long sweet, loving kiss as we said goodbye in the pouring rain. I’ll never forget it.
FINALLY!

I finally will have the freedom I’ve been dying to have for the past 19 years! I had to live in a dorm freshman year, school policy, but now it’s me and my buddy, off campus, on our own. Our lease starts August 1st. I’m so excited!
