get into clinicals (read all 2 entries…)
I GOT IN!! 3 years ago

I’ve spent lots of hard work, extra effort in studying, and it’s finally paid off!! I GOT INTO NURSING CLINICALS!! I’m SO excited!! I begin in the fall and will have 4 semesters to complete before I can graduate!

In the long term, I will need to figure out where I’ll want to work, but for right now, I’m revelling in the fact that I DID IT! I really did it! :D

help the world see each other as humans, not colors
"we are the world.." 4 years ago

ok that’s a tacky use of the song’s title, but the sentiment is the same. why is it the color of skin matters to people? i was never aware that there were distinctions between races until i was in 5th grade. i’d just moved to a new city and state, and had become the target of harrassment of another girl in my class. my pens and gym clothes were stolen on a regular basis, and my books were written in with taunts and foul language. when i took this to the teacher, i was told that this is the way kids behaved, and to deal with it… that it’s my word against hers, and because she was black, i’d just have to deal with it, staying out of her way, trying not to aggrivate or encourage the situation. being only 12 years old, i was confounded with the reply and couldn’t fathom why skin color could make any difference in bullying.

to this day i don’t understand it. no one has the right to discriminate against another. there should be no hate toward anyone because of shape, size, color, creed, belief, sex, or ability… it shouldn’t matter.

my only fear is to offend someone who has already suffered from this maniacally monstrous way of life. i want to treat everyone equally, and find myself going out of my way to be kind to those who look differently than i do. but i shouldn’t, i don’t guess… everyone should be the same. everyone deserves the same kindness and respect.

trouble is, because of oppressions and discriminations that have been particularly horrific, or on the other side of the spectrum where there has been no oppression or discrimination whatsoever but affluence and wealth, some people feel they deserve preferential treatment. either way, you’re the same as me.. your kids are just as special as mine. everyone deserves equal treatment..

no one is better than another for we all breathe the same air, bleed the same blood, and are created from the same basic DNA.

learn how to deal with office politics
office politics 4 years ago

i hate them. i hate the games grown people play in order to exude power over others and get their way. it’s juvenile, it’s sophomoric, and idiotic. kindness goes a long way with me. i will return kindness 10 fold. i just wish the employment world worked that way.

i hate it that the games and actions kids played and did in elementary school are the same ones that are being played and done in the office: taunting, name calling, exclusion and inclusion (cliques), tattling, whining, ignoring, and snobbery. the list could go on and on and on, but you know what i’m talking about. AND, the saddest part of it all, is that you know people where you work that exhibit these behaviours and participate in these activities!!

sigh it makes me want to live out in the wilderness away from everyone else. i don’t like dealing with individuals who play games. you never know exactly where you stand with them on any given moment. the trouble is, the higher up these game playing individuals are, the more hold they have on you and your paycheck. it’s so depressing…......
