So, I had a visit with the personal trainer. We did a new assessment.
Some things were odd. I have more fat in my arms, right now, though everything else went down a bit. I’ve lost two pounds, and 3 percent body fat. That’s handy.
My cardiac fitness is significantly improved, so that’s very good. My flexibility is improved, as is just about everything else. Even my blood pressure, which is normally quite good, has gone down even further.
But the cardio work? It seems to really be making a difference, and that makes me happy.
And that’s two packages of butter that I’ve taken off.
Whee!

I’ve been having a hard time lately.
For starters, I’ve been eating emotionally. Y’know, I’m pissed off at whoever, so I might as well eat. Sort of a self punishment for being depressed or angry or whatever.
Then, there’s my car. Mind you, I love my car. It is comfortable, it is easy to drive, and until very recently, it has been more reliable than a clock.
Several months ago, however, a “check engine” light came on. I went to the person who deals with car repairs in my household and explained that this needed to be resolved. Did he take the car in?
Nope.
So that’s why, it has been back and forth to the mechanic’s several times in the last few weeks, and I have sat in mechanic’s waiting rooms and sat, and sat, and been without a car to get me to the gym. I’ve been walking, but it aint’ the same.
So, I have a check-in with the trainer on Tuesday. I’m not expecting much.
Ugh.

I’m attempting my first 5K in about ten days.
They let walkers start 15 minutes before the runners, and there is no way I’m ready to run, so I’m walking. I’ve never done any kind of distant race, and it’s been decades since I’ve run in any competitive way at all (think high school), so I think walking’s a good start.
