I’m planning on going on the 15th, for a week. I went when I was in high school so about 4 years ago. I can’t wait.
Last night I wore a skirt that I haven’t worn with comfort in 2 years. I also wore knee high boots that I zipped up easily (I usually struggle to zip them past my calves and my fingers hurt with the effort).
I tried a few months ago to lose weight I went down from 160 to around 152 but gained all of it back and a little more over Christmas and New Years.
Exercise-
On the 2nd of I started working our every morning before work, one hour of cardio (elliptical mostly and cycling or rowing to change it up) and 30 min of strength training (I max out 3 times a week and Tue & Thurs I take it easy). It’s been working well. I take it easy on Sat and Sunday (mostly walking).
Diet-
I’m following the South Beach Diet loosely.
-low fat
-lean proteins
-only veggies for carbs during the week
-on the weekend one serving of high fiber bread for each day
-little to no sugar (there were 2 b-days at work so I had a little cake)
So after 2 full weeks I have gone down from 162 to 155 (as of this morning). I’m very excited but I’m placing less emphasis on losing weight.
I feel good from the exercise and stronger from the weight training, I’m seeing muscles and things are fitting better. I’m also less hungry in general, It used to be that I couldn’t wait to get home and eat, not it’s not a big deal, I can just have something small and healthy (last night it was baked chicken breast and steamed asparagus).
I realize that this will take time, if I take the easy way it’s not going to last. I’ve tried it enough times to know. I’m only weighing my self once a week to keep from obsessing about progress. I know all of us can lose weight. We just have to get up every morning looking ahead and seeing our goals.
Ohh and keep a food journal, (be honest) it really helps you make sure you’re eating enough or if something you ate was really worth it so you know better in the future.
Good luck everyone.
The Discovery Learning Center in Chicago has fencing lessons for all levels. Hopefully I’ll have time and money to sign-up for the mid-November beginner’s classes.
I lost 50 lbs. before my senior year of high school, it was great, a complete ugly duckling to swan for best year of high school. I slowly gained it back during my freshman year of college until last January (I graduated in May). I have lost 20 since January; I’m at 160 down from 180 at the New Year mark. I want to lose 30-35 more over the next 6 months. I would be great to fit in my clothes again; it’s been nice getting in to my size 8/9 clothing that I hadn’t worn in over a year. I hope to go down to about a size 4 and be comfortable in my body and be healthy again. I have hope, if I’ve done in once. I can do it again.
