We’re at the end of our first month here…it’s been great so far! We still have a lot to do and see, but the job and the people ave been awesome.

I finally graduated….with a BA in Art and a BS in Psychology…
I’m ready to get the hell out of that town and move on with my life.
College is a great idea and an awesome learning experience (more socially than intellectually in my experience), but I need to experience more than my small college in its small, conservative town has to offer…and I plan to! :-)
4 As, 2 A-s….
Not worth the anxiety…and it really doesn’t end up meaning anything….
Go out, have fun, spend time with your friends, make memories that don’t involve all-nighters alone in your room….
At least that’s what I should have done…
I’ve learned a lot more in travel and reading for pleasure than I did in getting straight As…
I made this a personal challenge…and now I’m regretting it…only because I don’t really want a six pack…I just want to get slim/in shape. But, I can’t change it now without quitting…which I’m not planning to do…so I’m going to alter the goal for myself and make “get a six pack” mean “get in shape.” I have a plan set up to do so…which I started two days ago…51 days to go! Wish me luck!
It’s awesome to go there with a book and just spend hours reading (as long as you don’t fall asleep in the cumfy chairs and not get your reading assignment done!)... Also, it’s the only place we get movies from now…boo blockbuster :)
I did it last semester….one semester to go…then I can check this one off…for good…(insert evil laugh here).
My boyfriend and I are doing this together. He started growing his hair out a lot later than I did, though, so I’m waiting for him. Meanwhile, my hair is approching the small of my back…I can’t wait to cut it down to a few inches…
So…I’ve been doing this ongoing program called “Floor Wars” where residents get points (or “underwear”, as my oh so mature girls have voted to call them…) for doing various community building things…. i.e. attending a meeting or a program, having their door open to socialize, getting a good grade, etc. I keep an updated list of the top five underwear recipients posted on my door :) ....Then, at the end of each month, one resident wins a prize (and I try to make them specific to the winner…so it’s a really good prize…) The girls seem to be getting competitive (in a friendly way of course), so it seems to be working. yay :)
My boyfriend and I just completed a spanish course at our local community college….first class since high school…I’m a little rusty, but he helps me out…it’s a start…I really just have to build my vocabulary….I guess we’ll just have to travel to southamerica…i mean…if we have to…. ;)
Saw them twice….once at the United Center in Chicago, the second time at Summer Fest in Milwaukee with Tom Petty. The first one was the best setlist I have ever experienced…lots of rare songs…awesome…the second one was….less….good. :) Everyone was there to see Tom Petty, rather than PJ and I couldn’t really see the stage through the pot smoke ;) Their set was cut in half and they played more crowd pleasers than usual. A young Petty fan was yelling “Come on! Play something I know!”.....during Jeremy…. But it was all fun anyway :) Also, if you haven’t checked out PJ’s Storytellers on Vh1….do it NOW….it’s quite awesome….
So I have a good idea of most of my grades and I know a few of them for sure. If my calculations are correct….all As and one or two A-s. Since I got an A- in one of my courses for sure…..does that count? It ruins the 4.0…but is it still an A…? :)
midterm report….3 As, 1 A-, 2 Bs….. one of those Bs will be fought over… I’m a little pissed :) and the A- will be easily brought up…. probably not going to make all As…but hopefully all but one….I’m working on being okay with that….
I love NPR. I don’t get reception here at school for Chicago Public Radio, so I listen to the national stream online at NPR.org. It’s so easy to just have it on while I’m working around my room…and I learn so much….I should donate money….they’re worth it! :)
great movie! The best is watching it after the first time…you see a lot more the second time around…
This is something that you need to do for more than a few weeks to really experience it. It may be difficult for some people, and of course everybody’s different, but I don’t understand where people get the idea that it’s unhealthy… where does it say that? I don’t think that’s been scientifically proven. Feeling crappy when you wake up and being unhealthy are two very different things. Now that I’ve been doing this for a bit, I feel worse when I sleep longer. If you’re going to try this….do it for at least a month before you make up your mind.
We went about a year ago…it was a lot of fun…a section was under construction, so I would like to go back to see that part (and obviously the rest of it again)....very cool
I became interested in sleeping less when, last year in Biopsychology, we learned that people don’t really need sleep. Also, I observed that, when I slept longer, I became more tired. I’ve been getting about 4.5 hours of sleep/night. I love it! I get so much more done….I get up easier….I workout at 5am…and I just take naps if I need them. Worth a try, if nothing else…
