I’ve lost a little more weight, since finishing this cleanse 11 months ago. Shocking, but true. Have I been true to my hopes of entirely changing my diet for the better? Not always. There have been episodes of candy, even. More than a few cocktails, too. White bread? Rarely, when nothing else avails itself… \r\n\r\nBut enough about food - y’all are still cleansing, after all. \r\n\r\nMy simple advice:\r\n\r\n1. Follow Burroughs Book … don’t improvise. \r\n\r\n2. And read folks’ stories on this site who have finished the cleanse - they obviously know how to do it right.\r\n\r\n3. Keep your metabolism moving - very light cardio 3X per week, just to keep those old muscles moving. But drink a little extra lemonade on those days, to keep those low-sugar headaches at bay.\r\n\r\n4. FLUSH : 2 TEAspoons of salt, NOT TABLEspoons. Measure all ingredients carefully.\r\n\r\n5. Resolve to eat better and exercise regularly after the cleanse is done. It’s easier to do that, when food doesn’t have such a hold on you… that’s what this cleanse actually does: breaks the tyranny of food over our minds and our lives.\r\n\r\nThe result: I went from a sorta unhealthy 216lb pizza-lovin’ weight-training-guy down to an amazed 200lb whole-grain-chewing cardio-freak in 2 weeks. Now I’m a far healthier 198lb man (.) - nearly a year later. \r\n\r\nAnd it was easier than I’d ever thought possible.\r\n\r\nCongratulations on embarking on this journey. And good sipping to all!\r\n

Y’all are still cleansing, after all.
Here are some successful cleanse tips, for what they’re worth:
+ Follow Burroughs Book. Don’t improvise. And read folks’ stories on this site who have finished the cleanse. They obviously know how to do it right.
+ Keep your metabolism moving. Do very light cardio 3X per week, just to keep those old muscles moving. But drink a little extra lemonade on those days, to keep those low-sugar headaches at bay.
+ FLUSH – 2 TEAspoons of salt, NOT TABLEspoons. Measure all ingredients carefully.
+ Resolve to eat better and exercise regularly after the cleanse is done. It’s easier to do that, when food doesn’t have such a hold on you. That’s what this cleanse actually does: breaks the tyranny of food over our minds and our lives.
The result: I went from a sorta unhealthy 216lb pizza-lovin’ weight-training-guy down to an amazed 200lb whole-grain-chewing cardio-freak in 2 weeks. Now I’m a far healthier 198lb man nearly a year later. And it was easier than I’d ever thought possible.
Congratulations on embarking on this journey of freedom from food. And good sipping to all!
Well, it’s Day 3 POST-Cleanse & I’ve figured out (I think) why Burroughs recommends taking it slowly. Not only does your body need some time to convert back to taking in solid food … and dealing with it anew as the source of nutrition and energy (after having converted to burning its own fat stores for energy, primarily), but also to give the bowels a chance to “walk by themselves.”
Yesterday, I had to do a SWF to get things out/moving, but today I was able to do everything under my own steam. Felt very independent, suddenly.
This a.m. it’s OJ (again), then soup for mid-day, leading up to a big protein-rich vegetarian salad I’m making for dinner (the final “test” for the bowels’ ability to move on their own). In any case, it’s off to the gym to keep that metabolism clicking along & then shopping for fresh produce for my salad.
Hope everybody has a great day, no matter what Cleanse or Post-Cleanse day you’re on.
