Boredom can sometimes bring out the best in people. I had left my guitar away on a summer vacation due to size constraints. 2 weeks later, I finally buckle down and get to a music store. I didn’t have too much money, so it was either renting a guitar, or getting a nice harmonica. I opted for the harmonica and haven’t looked back since. At school I’ll take it out, and just start jamming if I’m bored (or if I’m in the mood to get thrown out of class). Not only that, but it’s fairly simple to sound reasonably good at, so most people will be interested in your playing : )

The first stand up I ever watched was Ellen DeGeneres on some HBO special I believe. I was about 10 at the time and I couldn’t believe that people get paid to make people laugh. Later I listened to the works of Jerry Seinfeld and Mitch Hedberg, and I realized that if I could have any job with the prospect of becoming famous, it would be stand up comedy. I love making people feel better after they have a crappy day, and lately laughing has been the only thing keeping me alive. I can’t do much at 15, but give me some time, and I’ll be performing soon.
