Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Moved and Cleaned Out More

I moved to a house from an apartment back in January. This led me to get rid of a lot of stuff that I didn’t want to pack just to unpack. Then while unpacking things that had been in storage….I got rid of even more. Its like I own a supply of never ending stuff. twitch twitch I’ve started keeping a permanent “get rid of” box in my living room. Then as I clean and find things that are pretty much unwanted, useless and etc….they go in the box. When the box is full, I don’t look back through it, but just take it in. I’ve successfully gotten rid of 3 box loads and have one more to take in from this. Very pleased with myself for working on this!

And now I have more motivation than ever! I found out I was pregnant back in April. Need to have less stuff to make for a baby friendly environment. :)

Fire

So I decided to practice my fire making skills. I managed to get a bonfire lit after it had been poor down rain for several hours and did it while it was still raining. I also managed to start up a fire using only what I could find and my fire-starter from my bug out bag after it snowed and the snow was beginning to melt. Did these just test my skills outside of good weather. Was very happy with the turn out too.

New Book

Today I got a new book on herbs and it is huge! It was a gift from my sister for my birthday this coming week. I can’t wait to learn all the new things it has in it!

College Texts

Sadly all I’ve been able to read lately is my textbooks for college. Haven’t had time for regular reading. I did get to read one book of my shelves because it was usable for a us history book review that I had to do.

Doll Outfit

Just realized I never posted a picture of the doll outfit that I made last year. lol. I sewed the whole thing and used an embroidery machine that belongs to my mother-in-law for the designs.

Back in the Class!

I’m currently taking a full time schedule again in college! Sadly, only two of my classes deal with art (art history and design) but I’m glad to be back in it. Next year, I plan to take drawing and maybe my first photography class. So glad I made this decision to go back.

Failing

I am so failing at this goal. I have gotten rid of box after box….in fact, I have lost count! However, it never seems to help. More things get tracked in or some of the old things just have no set places. I spent a whole week cleaning every single day before college started back up but you’d never think that now! sigh

Failing

I got rid of bags and bags of junk. However, I swear my apartment is still filled with it! I managed to clean up the whole living room while my fiance was out of town and it has been destroyed all over again. No matter what I do, this is a battle I seem to be failing at. I need some words of encouragement.

History Fair

Went to a history fair where I learned lots of survival skills from the old pioneer days. Learned about all the uses of cattail plants, how to make rope, make clay pots and whistles, cook using a dutch oven and use a native american atlatl weapon. Very fun little event.

End of Week One in Challenge

Started a 40 bags in 40 days challenge to clear out clutter in my home. I’m using grocery bags. This week I managed to get rid of 8 bags! Four of the bags are items to be donated and the other four was trash and items that can’t be donated. So happy about this. Can’t wait to see what I end up with to get rid of at the end of next week!

30 Day Challenge

I’m starting a 30 day challenge on decluttering my home. It is a 30 Bags in 30 Days challenge. Every day you clean a different section of your home and get rid of things. By the end, you should have gotten rid of 30 bags of stuff for giving away or to be sent to the trash. I’m not doing trash bags, but instead shopping bags. I figured that even 30 of those should really cut down on my clutter issues. Its time to get started! Today, will be the clothes in the dresser. :)

Beach Trip

Went on a camping trip to the beach to work on my sea witchery skills. It was fun. I learned more about how everything at the beach is connected. I also drew out a walking labyrinth in the sand and did a walking meditation in it. Turns out they are easier to draw out then I thought. I love getting to do things like this to up my experiences as a witch.

Camping

Spent my weekend camping. Had to cook food over an open fire and even had to dig out a fire pit – without a shovel. Was a very fun experience. I’ve always enjoyed camping and it was nice to update my survival skills. Turns out camping in the woods is not the same as camping on the beach. The wind on the beach makes everything a little bit harder.

Reading on Vacation

Went to the beach and ended up spending the majority of it reading. I guess that is the easiest way to stay entertained on a camping trip. I finished off a book I was already reading and then read another during the stay there that I picked up on the way to the camp site. Then on the way home, I began reading the sequel and finished it last night. Turns out camping vacation trips make me read more. lol.

So that is three books down. I’ve already read another two books that I finished in the last two weeks. Awesome progress!

Started lessons

Found a site with online adult continuing education courses that had lessons for guitar. Signed up andbam on week two already. The class is very easy and well put together. Should get me back into playing.

I also ended up giving my eletric guitar to my younger cousin who had one suited more for children. She plays well so she deserved it.

My guy brought me home the greatest thing ever! A promo book on how to use Lenormand cards that he picked up from work. So lucky my guy works at a bookstore and was able to do this. It will really aid in completing this goal. XD
