In order to run faster you have to – run faster. Hill work is your friend. I love hills!
We have windows & doors and they were hanging the siding today. The fireplace is in, the HVAC is being installed and the plumbers have been there. We got the CAD drawings for the kitchen and confirmed all the interior color choices. We’ll be in our new house before we know it. This has been a wonderful experience so far.
We’ve picked out siding colors and made some changes to the interior. The permit has been applied for and stakes placed to indicate where the house will sit on the lot. Financing is proceeding apace. I can’t believe I’m building a house!!!!
Got a call from the builder and they’ve offered to build what we want at a steep discount. If I can get the mortgage guy on board, we are signing a contract and paying the earnest money down in two days. TWO DAYS!!!! OMG!!!
Just paid off the last of the medical bills and all that’s left is the truck payment. Of course, we are getting ready to buy a house so we will gain a mortgage but I’m not sure that counts as debt. After all, you have to live somewhere and renting is like throwing your money away. And in other news, being debt free totally tanked my credit score. Got to have debt to have a good score, it seems.
I joined a gym and have been taking full advantage of the free trainer. I feel confident that I will be able to do a pull up by April 2011.
I joined a gym today and even better, my husband is going to join too! They have an assisted pull up machine and all sorts of fantastic classes and equipment. I can’t wait to get started!
All the credit cards are paid off and the truck gets paid off early next year. House closes at the end of August. Holy cow! I’m going to be 100% debt free soon!!!
Honestly, it’s an offer I’d be a fool to refuse even though I have to uproot my family and move halfway across the state. Now I have to go through the application process. Seems totally backwards to me. Wish me luck!
My starting weight is 155. I hope to see 150 by the end of May. If I can keep away from the junk food and fats, I can totally do this!
The closet door is no longer blocked and I’ve purged all the clothes. Finally everything fits and the door shuts! The shoes still need to be gone through and the ones we don’t want given away, but progress is being made. Next up, the craft corner. Ugh!
I am so excited that the ugly cement/tile/plaster/lathe wall is finally down. There’s still a bit left behind the sink and the light fixture, but we’re going to take those out the day the new wall goes up since that’s our only bathroom.
Next step is to get the electrician in to rewire that wall and the lights in the other two rooms. The knob and tube wiring is kind of cool, but also scary looking. Scary, as in my house might catch on fire. Eeep!
After that, we teach ourselves how to hang drywall, install all the new fixtures and fittings and I can tear the floor out to tile it. I’m really looking forward to having tile in that room!.
The job hunt continues on, but slowly. I’ve been working with a new recruiter. We’d gotten past the reference and redacted work example stage, but the promised interview hasn’t come. I’m going to call him this afternoon to see where we stand.
We had the electrician come in yesterday. It turns out the old knob and tube wiring is still hot. We need to re-wire at least two rooms and tear out the wall with all of the plumbing in it. We have to move two pipes, add a vent to the sink, as well as replace the toe boards and the floor. Sure honey, lets start with the smallest room in the house, how bad could it be? Gah! I guess I’m going to learn carpentry.
Enthusiastic recruiter lost interest after I turned down an interview for a job I didn’t feel like I was perfectly suited for. I told him I’d prefer to start closer to home rather than half-way across the state in the middle of a backwoods hole in the ground. My dream job opens recruitment in September. Until then, I’ll just keep browsing.
Finally got all the wall paper off. Tried to change the light fixture only to discover that the electrical wiring is FUBAR. I have to get an electrician in to fix the bad DIY left from the prior owner before my house burns down. Oh, the joys of a nearly 100 year old home!
I put out some feelers over the weekend and have received one rejection and one enthusiastic call from a recruiter. My resume has been updated. All that’s left is to maintain the momentum. Scary!
