I plan on traveling to Peru and going through a very well-reputed tour group with respected master shamans as my guides.
This isn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision, and I have another year to mentally, physically, and spiritually prepare for it. I know that this will be one of the most intense and eye-opening experiences of my life.
If anybody has any advice (getting there/back on a budget is going to be tough) it’d be much appreciated. =)

I go a few times a month with a friend who’s been going for years. The best way to learn is to go to a country bar (where they actually do line dancing, mind you) and stand in the middle of a group of friendly-looking people who seem to know what they’re doing. Everybody I’ve met is always more than willing to share their expertise—they’re all been new, too. =)

I’ve never been in love before. I’ve never been so scared or so exhilarated by anything I’ve encountered. He’s far from perfect but when I try to outline my Perfect Man, he’s all I come up with. It’s a difficult love that comes easy. It’s all I never knew I wanted.
And I’m telling him tonight.

it was close to midnight, we had spent the evening sipping wine, smoking, and talking. we heard the rain and ran out into the middle of the street without shoes or coats. we danced around, laughing. when we stopped, i found myself wrapped in his arms, smiling, breathless, happy. the kiss was soft but passionate, one of those movie-moments that almost never happen.
do it. you’ll love it.

dreaming...

This is my dream hike (well, this and the JMT). I’m getting in shape for it now; never too soon to start. The hardest thing is going to be getting a group of people to commit to 3 months of wilderness. But when it happens, it’ll be heaven in hiking boots.

I surprised myself one day by actually listening to my own advice. Frustrated by work and family, I packed a bag, jumped in the car, and drove North. I ended up in a random little town with no veggie options (imagine!) but man, that was an awesome weekend with lots of surprises and a huge bonus: that amazing feeling of independence you get from nobody knowing where you are.
Go do it!

Have I been in love? Of course. Was it worth it? Maybe. The old cliche about loving yourself first holds true. How can somebody fall in love with somebody else who doesn’t even know who they are? Oh, well…relationships are the desert of life, not the main course.
So here’s to the main course, dears…live it. =)
