Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

fix and mend (read all 20 entries…)
Buttons & Baubles

Sat in front of the tele last night, sewing baubles back onto the couch cushions. That done, I decided to sew the button back onto a jacket, mend a small hole in a t-shirt and hem the legs of some pj’s.

Now, even though there’s a box full of jewellery I need to fix, I’m retiring this goal as done!

Dance again.....in honour of Kate (Seasonsoflove)
Kate's Dance

Funny, I didn’t really know Kate that well, following her entries only more regularly in the last 8 to 9 months before she passed away.

Still, her spirit of life lives in my heart and mind frequently these days and never moreso than when I get to ‘Dance’!

It’s difficult to explain in words but Kate’s passing and the love which flowed from this community to her in those last few days of her life, really affected me.

So came about this goal and I made a promise to myself that whenever I had the chance to dance, I would give Kate a moment to dance too.

A memorable moment came about whilst D & I were in Italy last year….
We were enjoying a Campari whilst admiring the Museo Storico Navale (Naval History Museum) building when I noticed two men across the canal singing and playing guitar. A light shower of rain had just fallen and their harmonies added to the mood of the cool afternoon breeze. Something made me want to get up and dance? I pleaded with D to cross the canal with me and dance to the Italian serenade on offer. By the time he agreed the men were almost finished their song but we managed a sway and a mooch, a twirl and a dip and as romantic as it was, I thought of Kate in that moment, of our precious Seasonsoflove

RIP Seasonsoflove
